This page allows you to define the configuration deviation list, which is the list of secondary parts of the airframe and engine, which do not affect the flying of the aircraft. Tell me more
Select the “Edit Configuration Deviation List” link at the bottom of the “Build Model Configuration” page.
The “Edit Configuration Deviation List” page appears.
The system displays the following fields in the “Model Configuration Details” group box:
Aircraft Model # |
The aircraft model selected in the main page, for which the configuration deviation list must be recorded. |
Aircraft Make # |
The aircraft model selected in the main page, for which the configuration deviation list must be recorded. Zoom facility available. |
Configuration Class |
The configuration class to which the aircraft model is associated. |
Revision # |
The current revision number of the model configuration. |
Note: The system lists the parts belonging to the configuration deviation list that is already defined for the model configuration, in the multiline.
Enter the following field in the “CDL Details” multiline:
CDL Item # |
The number identifying the secondary part that does not affect the normal flying of the aircraft, which must be included in the configuration deviation list (Alphanumeric, 30). Mandatory. |
CDL Item Desc |
The textual description of the CDL item (Alphanumeric, 150). |
Part # |
The secondary part that does not affect the normal flying of the aircraft (Alphanumeric, 40). Ensure that the part number has already been defined in the “Create Parts Main Information” activity of the “Part Administration” business component and is in “Active” status. The part number must have not been included in the MEL. |
|
Help facility available. |
CDL Qty. |
The quantity of the part to be included in the configuration deviation list (Decimal). Mandatory. |
Minimum CDL Qty. |
The minimum quantity of the part to be included in the CDL (Decimal). This value must be positive. |
Item Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the status of the CDL item. The system lists the options “Active” and “Inactive”. |
The system displays the following field:
Part Description |
The textual description of the part. |
Enter the following field:
Deferral Task # |
The task performed during the first scheduled maintenance to rectify a deferred discrepancy, which would have occurred during a maintenance activity. Ensure that the task number entered here is valid for the aircraft model specified in the “Model Configuration Details” group box, as defined in the “Maintenance Task” business component. Help facility available. |
Deferral Rev. Task # |
The task performed during the second scheduled maintenance, in case of further deferment in the discrepancy rectification. This task can be same as the Deferral Task or a different task as per the requirements Ensure that the task number entered here is valid for the aircraft model specified in the “Model Configuration Details” group box, as defined in the “Maintenance Task” business component. Help facility available. |
Maintenance Procedures |
The maintenance procedures of flying the aircraft without the secondary part or with the secondary part in defective condition (Alphanumeric, 255). |
Operational Procedures |
The maintenance procedures of flying the aircraft without the secondary part or with the secondary part in defective condition (Alphanumeric, 255). |

Click the Delete icon in the tool bar above the multiline, to delete the secondary parts selected in the multiline.
Click the “Edit Configuration Deviation List” pushbutton to update the part details in the configuration deviation list.
Recording deviation list for model configuration – An overview
This page allows you to define the configuration deviation list, which is the list of secondary parts of the airframe and engine, which do not affect the flying of the aircraft. This list denotes that the aircraft can still fly without these parts, or with these parts in defective condition. Each aircraft has a specific configuration defined for it, as approved in the type certificate. The aircraft will be declared fit for flying only when all the parts mentioned in the configuration are fitted and are in operating condition. However, there are certain parts (secondary parts) that are fitted externally on the airframe and engine, which do not affect the normal flying of the aircraft. An approval is obtained for flying the aircraft without these parts or with these parts in defective condition. A list of these secondary parts is contained in the configuration deviation list (CDL).
The CDL can be defined in terms of the secondary part numbers and the maintenance and operational implications of flying the aircraft without each of these parts. This information will be used for validating the aircraft configuration for the issue of the flight release certificate (FRC). This may also be used as a reference document in the maintenance and operation of the aircraft.
The system updates the details of the configuration deviation list and stores the name of the currently logged in user and the current server date.
