Editing preferred serial number and lot number information for component work order
Select the “Edit Preferred Serial/Lot Information” link at the bottom of the “Edit Parts Requirement” page.
The “Edit Preferred Serial # / Lot # Information” page appears.
The system displays the following field:
Date Format |
The format in which the date field is displayed. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user id. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the "Enterprise Modeling" business component by default. |
Enter the following fields in the “CWO Details” group box:
Component Work Order # |
The number identifying the component work order for which the serial number and lot number preferences must be recorded (Alphanumeric, 40). |
CWO Description |
The textual description of the component work order (Alphanumeric,150). |
Task # |
The number identifying the task for which the preferred serial number and lot number details must be recorded (Alphanumeric, 40). |
Task Description |
The textual description of the task (Alphanumeric, 150). |
Work Center # |
The number identifying the work center in which the component work order must be performed (Alphanumeric, 30). |
Work Center Description |
The textual description of the work center (Alphanumeric, 150). |
Warehouse # |
The number identifying the warehouse from where the parts must be issued for the component work order (Alphanumeric, 10). |
Warehouse Description |
The textual description of the warehouse (Alphanumeric, 80). |
Enter the following information:
Part # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the part for which the preferred serial number and lot number information must be recorded. The system lists all the part numbers associated to the task in the component work order. If the task is not specified, the system lists all the part numbers associated to the component work order. |
Click the “Get Details” pushbutton to retrieve serial number/lot number details of the part.
The system displays the following:
Part Description |
The textual description of the part. Zoom facility available. |
Material Type |
The material type of the part, which can be “Main core” or “Regular”. |
Required Quantity |
The quantity of parts required for the component work order. |
Stock Status |
The stock status of the part. |
Note: If the job type of the CWO is “Piece part” and the part number, serial number, lot number and material type details have been specified, the system retrieves those details in the multiline below.
If the job type of the CWO is “Component”, and “Main core” field is set as “Required”, the system retrieves the serial number, lot number and material type details of the part number in the multiline.
Enter the following fields in the “Preferred Serial/Lot Details” multiline:
Seq # |
The order of preference for the serial number and lot number specified in the multiline (Integer). Ensure that the sequence number is positive and is unique in the multiline. If you leave the sequence number blank, the system automatically assigns a sequence number to each row, in the order in which they are entered in the multiline, on clicking the “Edit Preferred Information” pushbutton. Ensure that you do not leave it blank for any of the serial or lot numbers occurring in between. |
Serial # |
The preferred serial number of the part (Alphanumeric, 40). The serial number must be a valid serial number defined in the “Stock Maintenance” business component. Help facility available. |
Note: Ensure that a unique serial number is entered for the part number, if the part is of a different material type. |

Lot # |
The preferred lot number of the part (Alphanumeric, 18). The lot number must be a valid lot number already defined in the “Stock Maintenance” business component. For a part that is lot-controlled, you must specify the same lot # for all the records in the multiline. Help facility available. |
The system displays the following:
Component # |
The component number of the part. |
Available in Warehouse |
Indicates whether the part is available in the warehouse or not. The system displays “Yes” if the quantity available is more than zero. Otherwise, the system displays “No”. |
Enter the following:
Qty. |
The quantity of parts required (Decimal). The quantity entered should be a positive value. If the part type is “Kit” or “Component”, the quantity entered should not be in fractions. This field is mandatory if you have entered a serial number and lot number. If the part is serial number-controlled, ensure that the quantity entered is ‘1’. The system displays ‘1’ by default, if the requested part is serial controlled or serial and lot controlled. If the part is lot controlled, the system displays the “Required Quantity” displayed in the “CWO Details” group box by default. |
Note: The sum of the quantity entered in the multiline must be lesser than or equal to the quantity displayed in the “Required Quantity” field in the “Work Order Details” group box.
The system displays the following:
Expiry Date |
The date of expiry of the part. |
Material Status |
The material status of the part, which can be one of the following: a. If the issue setting for CWO in “Logistics Common Master” business component is set as “Issue only against MR”, the system displays one of the following statuses: § “Partially requested” - Indicates that the Material Request is not raised for all the parts that have been identified as requirements. § “Requested” - Indicates that the Material Request is completely raised for all the parts that have been identified as requirements. § “Partially issued” - Indicates that the Material Issues are not done for all the parts that have been identified as requirements. § “Issued” - Indicates that the Material is completely issued for all the parts that have been identified as requirements. b. If the issue setting for CWO in “Logistics Common Master” business component is set as “Issue Directly Against Work order”, the system displays one of the following statuses: § “Partially Reserved” - Indicates that all parts with Planning Type as 'Disposition' (as identified in the “Part Administration” business component) have not been reserved in the “Stock planning” business component, in the requested warehouse. § “Reserved” - Indicates all the parts with Planning Type as 'Disposition' (as identified in the “Part Administration” business component) have been fully reserved in the “Stock planning” business component, in the requested warehouse. § “Partially hard allocated” - Indicates that the required parts are not completely hard allocated in the “Stock Maintenance” business component. § “Hard Allocated” - Indicates that the required parts are completely hard allocated in the “Stock Maintenance” business component. For parts with planning type as ’Disposition’, the system displays “Not Planned” if none of the material requirements of the work order are reserved. If more than one planning status exists, the system displays the lowest status in the hierarchy. |

Note: Ensure that at least one record is selected in the multiline.
Check the box in the multiline and click the Delete icon provided at the toolbar above the multiline to delete the serial or lot number information for the part.
Note: Ensure that no part transaction has been recorded for the serial number and lot number combination of the part for the specific work order and task combination.
The system does not delete the selected records under the following circumstances:
If the part has a material request for the preferred serial number and/or lot number.
If the part has the same serial number and/or lot number as that of the CWO, with material type as “Main Core”.
If the preferred serial number and/or lot number is deleted for a part against a CWO/CWO-Task, then the system changes the requirement type of the part from “Specific” to “Normal”.
Click the “Edit Preferred Information” pushbutton to record the preferred lot number and serial number details.
Note: For main core items, the sum of the quantity in the multiline should be equal to the required qty for a particular part # if the Material Type entered for that part is "Main Core".
For regular items, the sum of the quantity in the multiline should be less than or equal to the required qty for a particular part # if the Material Type entered for that part is "Regular".
Select the “View Component Parameters” link at the bottom of the page to view the consumption and range parameters of the part.
Select the “Inquire Part Certificate History” link at the bottom of the page to view details of certification received by the part till date.
Editing preferred serial and lot number information for component work order – An overview
This page allows you to specify the preferred serial number and lot number information for the part against the work order and task combination. You can select the part specified for the work order and enter the details of the serial number and lot number information. Details such as the serial number and the lot number of the part and the quantity required can be specified. The system saves the details against the work order and task combination.
