Using Online Help

This page allows you to retrieve the details of substitute parts. You can carry out a search using the substitute part number, description, part type and order of preference.

Details such as the substitute part number, substitute part description, part type and order of preference will be displayed.

The “Help on Substitute part” page appears.

The system displays the following in the “Part Details” group box:

Requested Part #

The number identifying the part that has been requested for, in the component work order.

Requested Part Description

The textual description of the part number.

The system displays the following in the “Customer Details” group box:

Customer #

The number identifying the customer.

Customer Name

The name of the customer.

Substitute Part #

The number identifying the substitute part number that has to be retrieved (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves the details of all substitute parts that have numbers similar to the number entered here.

Substitute Part Description

The textual description of the substitute part (Alphanumeric, 150). You can enter the description in full or enter it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves the details of substitute parts that contain the description entered here.

Part Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the substitute part. The system displays the options “Raw Material”, “Component”, “Expendable”, “Tool”, “Consumable”, “Kit” and “Miscellaneous”. This field is set to “Expendable” by default. The system retrieves details of substitute parts that belong to the type selected here.

Order of preference

The order of preference of the alternate parts (Integer).

Note: The system retrieves all the parts that are in “Active” status.

Note: The system retrieves only those alternate parts that are of alternate type other than “Customer Specific”, if the customer number is not identified in the header.

The system displays the following fields in the "Search Results" multiline:

Substitute Part #

The number identifying the substitute part number.

Substitute Part Description

The textual description of the substitute part number.

Part Type

The type to which the substitute part belongs, which can be “Raw Material”, “Component”, “Expendable”, “Tool”, “Consumable”, “Kit” or “Miscellaneous”.

Order of preference

The order of preference of the alternate parts.

Alternate Type

The alternate type of the part, which could be “Direct Alternate”, “Conditional Alternate” or “Customer Specific”.

Alternate Part-Condition

The circumstance in which you use the alternate part as the substitute for the reference part.

Top
