Select the “Maintain Preclude Work Units” link in the “Edit Part Program Information” page.
The “Maintain Preclude Work Units” page appears.
The system displays the following fields in the “Precluding Work Units” group box:
Part # |
The number identifying the part for which the part program is defined. |
Part Description |
The textual description of the part. |
Revision # |
The revision number of the part program. |
Program Status |
The status of the part program. |
Enter the following field:
Work Unit # |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the work unit number that is of a higher maintenance level, in the part program. The system lists all the active work units that are defined for the part program. |
Click the “Get Details” pushbutton provided alongside to retrieve the details of the work unit.
Note: The work unit selected in the “Precluding Work Unit Details” group box should not be changed after clicking the “Get Details” pushbutton.
The system displays the following fields on clicking the “Get Details” pushbutton.
Work Unit Description |
The textual description of the work unit. |
Execution Facility |
The execution facility where the work unit is performed, which could be “In-house” or “Out-source”. |
Work Center # |
The code identifying the work center in which the work unit is executed. |
Maintenance Type |
The maintenance type of the work unit. |
On-Wing? |
Indicates whether the work unit is on-wing or off-wing. |
Enter the following fields in the “Search Criteria” group box. Data entry in the following fields is optional:
Work Unit # |
The number that identifies the work unit of a lower maintenance level (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the work unit number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the work units that are similar to the value specified here. |
Work Unit Type |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the type of the work unit. The system lists the options, “Task”, “standard Procedure” and “Work Package”. The system retrieves all the work units of the type specified here. |
Work Unit Desc |
The textual description of the work unit (Alphanumeric, 150). You can enter the work unit description in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the work units with descriptions similar to the value specified here. |
Work Center # |
The number identifying the work center where the work unit is executed (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the work center number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the work units for the work center specified here. |
On-Wing? |
Use the drop-down list box to state whether the work unit to be performed is on-wing or off-wing. The system provides the options “Yes” and “No”. The system displays “No” by default. |
Maintenance Type |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the maintenance type of the work unit. The system lists the options “Inspection”, “Others”, “Overhaul”, “Repair” and “Retire”. The system retrieves all the work units with the maintenance type specified here |
Note: Leave all the above fields blank to retrieve all the work units, irrespective of the search criteria.
Click the “Search” pushbutton, to search for the work units.
The system displays the following in the “Precluded Work Unit Details” multiline:
Work Unit # |
The number identifying the work unit. |
Work Unit Desc |
The textual description of the work unit. |
Work Unit Type |
The type of the work unit, which could be “Task”, “Standard Procedure” or “Work Package” |
Work Center # |
The work center in which the work unit is executed. |
Maintenance Type |
The maintenance type of the work unit. |
On-Wing? |
Indicates whether the work unit is on-wing or off-wing. |
Execution Facility |
The location where the work unit is executed, which could be “In-house” or “Out-source”. |
Shelf Life Expiry |
Indicates whether the maintenance requirement is for the shelf life expiry of the component. |
The system displays the following field on clicking the "Preclude Work Units" pushbutton:
Precluded? |
Indicates whether the work unit is precluded. |
Note: Ensure that at least one record is selected in the multiline.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline, to select the work unit of a lower maintenance level than the work unit available in the “Precluding Work Units” group box.
Note: You cannot select a work unit of a higher-level maintenance in the multiline, for precluding against a work unit of lower-level maintenance selected in the “Precluding Work Unit Details” group box.
Click the “Preclude Work Units” pushbutton, to preclude the work unit selected in the multiline.
Note: The system displays an error message, if any other concurrent user attempts to simultaneously modify the work unit details in the multiline.
Precluding work units – An overview
This page allows you to preclude work units. The execution of certain work units becomes unnecessary due to the execution of a higher-level maintenance activity. For example, a work unit (W01) for the inspection of a component becomes unnecessary, if there is a work unit (W02) in a part program for the overhaul of the same component. In such situations, to prevent wastage of time, resource and redundancy in maintenance activity, the work unit (W01) is precluded against the work unit (W02). The precluded work unit (W01) will not be performed.
