Associating work units to components
This page allows you to associate work units to maintenance types defined for parts and part groups. Tell me more.
Select the “Associate Work Units” link at the bottom of the “Edit Maintenance Type Capability” page.
The “Associate Work Units” page appears.
The system displays the following fields in the “Work Center Details” group box::
Work Center # |
The work center to which the component was associated. |
Work Center Description |
The textual description of the work center. |
Work Center Type |
The type of the work center, which could be “Hangar”, “Bay”, "Shop", "Line" or “Others”. |
Work Center Category |
The category of the work center. |
Enter the following field:
Part # / Group |
Use the drop-down list box to select the part number or the part group for associating work units. The system lists all the parts and part groups associated to the work center. |
Click the “Get Details” pushbutton to display the details of the selected part or part group.
The system displays the following field:
Description |
The textual description of the part or part group. |
Component Effectivity Basis |
Indicates whether the work units must be associated to part or part group. |
Enter the following field:
Maintenance Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type to which you wish to associate the work units. The system lists all the maintenance types that are applicable for the work center. By default, this field is set to the maintenance type selected in the previous page. |
On clicking the “Get Details” pushbutton, the system displays the following fields in the multiline for work units that have already been associated to the part number or part group and maintenance type combination. You can associate more work units to the part or part group by entering the following fields in the multiline:

Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the work unit, which can be “Task”, “Standard Procedure” or “Work Package”. The system displays “Task” by default. Help facility available. |
Work Unit # |
The number identifying the work unit (Alphanumeric, 30) Mandatory. If the work unit is of type “Task”, ensure that the work unit code has already been defined in the “Create Task” activity of the “Maintenance Task” business component. If the work unit is of type “Standard Procedure”, ensure that the work unit code has already been defined in the “Create Standard Procedure” activity of the “Maintenance Task” business component. If the work unit is of type “Work Package”, ensure that the work unit code has already been defined in the “Create Work Package” activity of the “Maintenance Program” business component. Note: In the event of modifying the work unit code, the system displays an error message if you enter a work unit code that is already associated to this work center.
The system displays the following field in the multiline on clicking the “Edit Capability” pushbutton:

Enter the following field:
Authoring Org Units |
Use the drop-down list box to select the number identifying the organizational unit (Alphanumeric, 32). The system lists all the organizational units in which the task, maintenance programs and component maintenance programs are defined. |
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the work unit for deletion.
Click the Delete icon in the tool bar above the multiline, to delete the work units selected in the multiline.
Click the “Edit Capability” pushbutton to associate the work units to the selected part or part group.
Note: The system fills in the “Work Unit Description” field in the multiline and associates work units to the part or part group.
Associating work units to components – An overview
This activity allows you to identify work units, on which maintenance activities can be carried out, and associate them to the selected part or part group. Work units can be of type “Task”, “Standard Procedure” or “Work Package”.
You can select the maintenance type and associate the work units. For the work units you can specify the work unit type, work unit code, work unit code, work unit description, the organizational unit and the remarks.
You can re-define the association between the work units and the component by adding new work units or deleting the work units that have already been associated.

“Create Task” activity of the “Maintenance Task business” component if work unit is a task
“Create Standard Procedure” activity of the “Maintenance Task” business component if work unit is a standard procedure.
“Create Work Package activity” of the “Maintenance Program” business component if the work unit is a work package.
