Entering task relationship details for a standard procedure
This page allows you to identify one or more preceeding tasks for every task included in the standard procedure. Tell me more
Select the Edit Task Relationship” link at the bottom of the “Create Standard Procedure Information” or the “Edit Standard Procedure Information” page.
The “Edit Tasks Relationship” page appears.
The system displays the following in the “Standard Procedure Details” group box:
SP Applicability
|
Indicates whether the standard procedure is applicable for “Aircraft”, “Engine” or “Component”. |
Base Aircraft Model # |
The number identifying the base aircraft model on which the standard procedure can be performed |
Std. Procedure # |
The standard procedure selected in the main page for which the task relationship details have to be specified. |
Std. Procedure Description |
The textual description of the standard procedure. Zoom facility available |
Enter the following field:
Task # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the task for which the relationship must be defined. The system lists all the tasks and their sequence number that are included in the standard procedure. The task and the sequence number are separated by hyphen. This task will be considered as the primary task. |
If you have already defined the relationship details for this primary task, click the “Get Details” pushbutton to retrieve the existing details in the multiline. You can modify the existing details or define a new relationship for the task in the multiline.
The system fills in the following fields on clicking the “Get Details” pushbutton:
Task Description |
The description of the primary task. Zoom facility available |
The system fills in the following fields in the “Related Task Details” multiline if you have already defined a relationship for the primary task. If you wish to define a new relationship for the task, enter the following fields:
Task # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the task dependent on the primary task. The system lists all the tasks and their sequence number that are included in the standard procedure. The task and the sequence number are separated by hyphen. |
Note: You can define any number of dependent tasks for the primary task.
The system fills in the following fields on clicking the “Edit Relationships” pushbutton:
Task Description |
The description of the dependent task. |
Enter the following fields:
Relationship Type |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the relationship between the primary task and the dependent task. The relationship could be one of the following: "Start-Start", “Start-Finish", “Finish-Start" or "Finish-Finish”. The system sets the field to “Finish-Start” by default. |
Lag |
The time gap between the two tasks (Decimal). Ensure that the lag value is a positive number. If this field is left blank, the system sets the value to zero. |
Time Unit |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the unit of measurement for the lag, which could be “Minutes”, “Hours” or “Days”. The system sets the field to “Hours” by default. |
Note: While defining the task relationship, ensure that atleast one dependent task is defined for the primary task. Also ensure that task and sequence number combination of the primary task is not entered in the multiline.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the task relationship details for deletion.
Click the Delete icon in the tool bar above the multiline, to delete the task relationship details selected in the multiline.
Click the “Edit Relationships” pushbutton to update the task relationship details for the standard procedure.
Entering task relationship details for a standard procedure – An overview
Maintenance tasks that are identified in the standard procedure can contain relationships to one another. The maintenance task, on which the other tasks are dependent upon, is called a primary task. Tasks that are dependent on the primary task are called dependent tasks.
This page allows you to identify one or more preceding tasks for every task included in the standard procedure. The type of relationship of the task with each of the preceding tasks together with the time lag, if any, can also be specified. The primary task and the dependent tasks are defined in the standard procedure while specifying the relationship. The relationship between the primary task and the dependent task, along with the duration, is typically recorded for project management purposes.
The relationship between the primary task and the dependent task can be classified into one of the following types:
Start – Start relationship
In this type of relationship, the execution of the primary task and the dependent task begin simultaneously.
Finish – Finish relationship
In this type of relationship, the primary task and the dependent task are completed at the same time, irrespective of when the primary task or the dependent task was triggered.
Finish – Start relationship
In this type of relationship, the dependent task is triggered only after the completion of the primary task.
Start – Finish relationship
In this type of relationship, the dependent task is triggered after the execution of the primary task has begun, and is completed before the primary task execution is completed.

Specify relationship type for the task
You can specify the type of relationship between the primary task and the dependent task.
Set the “Relationship Type” field to “Start-Start" to indicate, the execution of the primary task and the dependent task should begin simultaneously.
Set the “Relationship Type” field to “Start-Finish" to indicate, the dependent task must be triggered after the execution of the primary task has begun, and completed before the primary task execution is completed.
Set the “Relationship Type” field to “Finish-Start”, to indicate the dependent task must be triggered only after the completion of the primary task.
Set the “Relationship Type” field to “Finish-Finish”, to indicate the primary task and the dependent task are completed at the same time, irrespective of when the primary task or the dependent task was triggered.
