Maintenance Task

Chapter x – Manage Unified Task Sequence

This section dwells on the Maintenance Task business component and its activity Manage Unified Task Sequence.

Manage Unified Task Sequence – A summary of the activity

This activity enables you to create and update the definition of a sequence control. A sequence control is identified by sequence control # and defines the execution order for a set of component tasks. More precisely, a number of tasks related to several parent tasks can be sequenced to be executed in a specific order.

Sequence control numbers prove crucial in the maintenance of parts and components in a shop. For example, a mechanic can identify the exact order in which a set of tasks must be executed on a part by its sequence control #.

Using this activity, you can create a sequence control # and

4      Associate parts to the sequence control #

4      Associate tasks to a sequence control #. (These tasks are called root tasks for which repair schemes must have been defined using the Maintain Repair Scheme activity.)

4      Sequence related tasks of all the root tasks in a specific order for execution on parts/components in a shop.

You can also modify the above details for an existing sequence control in future.

However, a part can be associated with only one sequence control # that is in “Active” status at any point of time. Note that this activity does allow for sequencing of tasks applicable to aircraft.

What you can do in this activity

Create sequence control #

4 Create sequence control #.

4 Associate parts to a sequence control #.

4 Associate tasks to a sequence control #.

4 Sequence tasks for a sequence control #.

Modify sequence control #

4 Specify the sequence control # you wish to modify.

4 Update details of the sequence control #.

Prerequisites

4      Define repair scheme for tasks that you want to  map to the sequence control #.

4      Define tasks that you want to map to the sequence control #.

Managing unified task sequence

Ø  Select the “Manage Unified Task Sequence” link under the “Configuration” business component.

The “Manage Unified Task Sequence” page appears.

To create sequence control #

Ø  Enter the following fields in the “Define Task Seq. Control #” group box to

Seq. Control #

The sequence control that you want to create and record details. Mandatory.

If the "Sequence Control Generation Mode" is set as "Auto" in the Set Options of the Maintenance Task component, the system automatically generates the sequence control # for the new sequence on successful mapping of the parts to the sequence control. However, it is mandatory for the user to specify the sequence control #, if the "Sequence Control Generation Mode" is set as "Manual”.

Ø  Select the “Update Seq. Number” pushbutton

The system saves the repair sequence numbers against the sequence control #. It also updates the repair sequence #s, if modified. If modified for the first time, the old repair sequence #s are saved in the Orig. Seq. # field. The Orig. Seq. # field retains these first time values and,            further changes to the repair sequence # do not impact Orig. Seq. #s.

The repair sequence numbers for tasks are updated in the repair schemes of the root tasks.
