Modifying Engineering Service request
This page allows you to modify the details of the selected ESR. Tell me more.
Select the hyperlinked ESR number from the multiline in the “Select Engg. Service Request” page.
The “Edit Engg Service Request” page appears.
The system displays the following:
Date Format |
The format in which the date fields are displayed in this page. This format is displayed from the “User Preferences” business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default. |
The system displays the following in the “Engg Service Req Details” group box.
Engg Service Req # |
A number identifying the engineering service request (ESR) selected in the “Select Engg Service Request” page, for which the details must be modified. |
Request Status |
The status of the ESR is displayed as “Fresh”. This indicates that the ES request is created and is yet to be confirmed. |
Enter the following fields in the “Engg Service Req Details” group box to modify the details of the selected ESR.
User Status |
Use the drop-down list box to modify the user status. The system lists all the user status defined in the “Create Quick Codes” activity, that are in “Active” status. |
Request Category |
Use the drop-down list box to modify the request category. The system lists all the request categories defined in the “Create Quick Code” activity that are in “Active” status. |
Subject |
The subject of the request (Alphanumeric, 50). Zoom facility available |
ATA# |
The ATA Chapter number on which the ESR to be processed is raised (Alphanumeric,16). Mandatory. Help facility available. |
Applicability |
Use the drop-down list box to modify the applicability for the ESR. The system lists “Aircraft”, “Component” and “Engine”. |
Priority |
Use the drop-down list box to select the priority assigned to the request. The system lists the priority numbers defined in the “Priority Number Master” activity of the “Common Masters” business component, that are in “Active” status. |
Enter the following fields in the “Aircraft Details” group box:
Aircraft Reg # |
The registration number of the aircraft for which the ESR is raised (Alphanumeric, 30). The aircraft registration number must have already been defined in the “Create Aircraft Information” activity of the “Aircraft” business component and must be in “Active” status. This field must not be left blank, if the “Applicability” field is set to “Aircraft”. Leave this field blank, if the ESR is raised for “Component” or “Engine”. Help facility available. |
The system displays the following in the “Aircraft Details” group box: |

Aircraft Model # |
The model number of the aircraft entered in the “Aircraft Reg #” field. |

Position Code |
The position code in the aircraft model for which the maintenance action is being performed and for which the clarification is sought (Alphanumeric, 25). The position code must have already been defined in the “Maintain Model Configuration” activity of the “Configuration” business component and must be in “Active” status. This number must be valid for the aircraft registration number entered. Help facility available. |
The system displays the following field: |

Part # |
The part fitted in the specified position code on which the maintenance action is being performed. |

Zone # |
The zone in which the maintenance action is being performed and for which the clarification is sought (Alphanumeric, 10). The zone number must have been already defined in the “Create Zones” activity of the “Aircraft” business component and they must be in “Active” status. Leave this field blank, if the ESR is raised for a component. Help facility available. |
Ensure the zone number is valid for the specified aircraft model.
Enter the following fields in the “Component Details” group box:
Component # |
The number identifying the component, on which the maintenance is being performed and for which the clarification is sought (Alphanumeric, 15). The component number must have been already defined in the “Create Component Record” activity of the “Aircraft” business component and must be in “Active” status. This field must not be left blank, if the “Applicability” field is set to “Component” or “Engine”. Leave this field blank, if the ESR is raised on “Aircraft”. Help facility available |
Note: If this field is left blank, ensure that the component number applicable for the part number and serial number combination is in the “Active” status in the “Aircraft” business component.
Part # |
The part number of the component, on which the maintenance is being performed and for which the clarification is sought (Alphanumeric, 40). This serial number must have already been defined in the “Create Parts Main Information” activity of the “Part Administration” business component and must be in “Active” status. Ensure that this field is not left blank, if the ESR is raised for a “Component” or “Engine”. Leave this field blank, if the ESR is raised for “Aircraft”. Help facility available. |
Serial # |
The serial number of the component on which the maintenance is being performed and for which the clarification is sought (Alphanumeric, 40). This serial number must have already been defined in the “Create Component Record” activity of the “Aircraft” business component and must be in “Active” status. Ensure that this number is a valid number for the given part number, if the “Component #” field is not entered. Leave this field blank, if the ESR is raised for “Aircraft”. Help facility available. |
The system displays the following in the “Component Details” group box:

The description of the part, on which the maintenance is being performed and for which the ESR has been raised. Zoom facility available |

The system displays the following in the “Reference Document Details” group box:
Work Order # |
The number identifying the work order against which clarification is required. This number will be displayed only if this page is invoked from the “Hangar Work Order” or "Component Work Order" business component. |
Discrepancy # |
The discrepancy number, for processing of which the clarification is sought. This number will be displayed only if this page is invoked from the “Flight Log” business component. |
Maint Report # |
The maintenance report for which the clarification is sought. This number will be displayed only if this page is invoked from the “Create MR” page in the “Discrepancy Processing” business component. |
Enter the following fields:
Ref Doc No 1 |
Any reference document pertaining to the clarification for which the ESR is being raised. (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter other reference document details here in case the ESR is not being raised based on a work order or discrepancy or a maintenance report. |

Any reference document pertaining to the clarification for which the ESR is being raised. (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter other reference document details here in case the ESR is not being raised based on a work order or discrepancy or a maintenance report. |
Comments |
Any comments regarding the clarification required (Alphanumeric, 255). Zoom facility available |
Enter the following fields in the “Requestor Details” group box:
Work Center # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the work center number in which the maintenance is being done. The system lists all the work centers created in the login organization unit, in the “Create Work Center” activity of the “Work Center” business component, and that are in “Active” status and for which the user has got rights to access. |
Note: If the “Work Order #”or the “Maint Report #” field is entered, the system displays the work center associated to the work order or maintenance report.
Station Name |
Use the drop-down list box to select the station in which the maintenance activity is being done. The system lists the station names created in the “Create Station” activity of the “Common Master” business component, that are in the “Active” status. The system by default, displays the station name that has been associated to the login OU as found in the ”Enterprise Set Up” business component |

Enter the following fields in the “Requestor Details” group box
Work Phone # |
The work phone number of the requestor (Alphanumeric, 30). |
Requestor |
The User ID of the person who has requested the clarification (Alphanumeric, 20). This ID must have been created in the “Create Employee File” activity of the “Employee Information” business component. Help facility available. |
Requestor Name |
The name of the person who has requested the clarification (Alphanumeric, 77). Data entry in this field is mandatory, if the “Requestor” field is left blank. Zoom facility available |

Other Details |
Any other details you want to add regarding the person who has requested the clarification (Alphanumeric, 255). Zoom facility available |
Enter the following fields in the Document Attachment Details group box:
File Name |
The name of the file containing the document reference details (Alphanumeric, 30). Zoom facility available .Help facility available. |
Select the “View File” link alongside the “File Name” field to view the content of the file referenced in the “File Name” field.
Click the “Edit ES Request” pushbutton to update the modified details of the ESR.
The user ID and the server date are updated in the “Last Modified by” and the “Last Modified Date” fields and status is kept as Fresh
The system displays the following in the “Record Statistics” group box:

The login ID of the user who raised the ESR. |
Created Date |
The date on which the ESR was raised. |
Last Modified by |
The login ID of the user who modified the ESR last. |
Last Modified Date |
The date on which the ESR was last modified. |
Confirmed by |
The login ID of the user who confirmed the ESR. |
Confirmed Date |
The date on which the ESR was confirmed. |
Confirming the engineering service request
Click the “Confirm ES Request” pushbutton to confirm the ES request.
The user ID and the server date are updated in the “Confirmed by” and the “Confirmed Date” fields.
The status of the ES Request is updated to “Confirmed”.
The system appropriately updates the engineering service request number to the work order number, discrepancy number or the maintenance report number in the respective business components.
Cancelling the engineering service request
Click the “Cancel” pushbutton to cancel the ES request.
The status of the ES Request in the “Fresh” status is updated to “Cancelled”.

Select the “Edit References” link at the bottom of the page to record document references.
Modifying Engineering Service Request – An overview
This page allows you to modify the details of the selected ESR. You can modify all the details of ESRs, which are in the “Fresh” status. This page also allows you to confirm the modified ESR. The system stores the login user ID and the server date along with the modification and confirmation details.
This page also allows you to cancel the ESR. You can cancel ESRs in the “Fresh” status. The status of ESR after cancellation is updated to “Cancelled”.
Click the “Edit ES Request” pushbutton to update the modified details of the ESR.
The user ID and the server date are updated in the “Last Modified by” and the “Last Modified Date” fields.
You can confirm the ESR in this page. Upon confirmation, the status of the “Fresh” ESR is updated to “Confirmed”. The system stores the login user ID and the server date along with the confirmation details.
Click the “Confirm ES Request” pushbutton to confirm the ESR selected in the multiline.
You can cancel the ESR. Upon cancellation, the status of the “Fresh” ESR is updated to “Cancelled”.
Click the ““Cancel Request” pushbutton to cancel the ESR selected in the multiline.
