Config. Control Basis: The basis for attaching parts to aircraft during maintenance
When a part attached to an aircraft, the system checks for the “Config. Control Basis” attribute of the part defined in aircraft configuration.
If this attribute is set to Config. Rules, the system allows you to associate the part to the aircraft only if the following are true.
The part must be valid for the position code in the aircraft.
The part must be an Free Alternate part for the aircraft.
The part must be a Position Based Interchangeable part for the position code in the aircraft.
Valid parts must already exist in positions that are dependent on the position code of the attached part.
For components, the Restriction Type of the serial #, if specified for the part #. If the Restriction Type of the serial # is set to “Permitted”, the system allows you to attach the part to the position code only if the serial # belongs to the range of From MSN # and To MSN # specified for the Part #. Conversely, if the Restriction Type is “Not Permitted”, the serial # of the part is out of the From MSN # and To MSN # specified for the Part #. However, if the If the Part # is not specified in the Serial # applicability page, then, consider that all the serial #s of that particular part # are valid for this aircraft. (If no serial # is has been associated to a part, all serial #s automatically become applicable for the part.)
The part must be set to Effective or Conditional Effective for the aircraft model/aircraft as defined in the “Maintain Part Effectivity” activity.
If the Config. Control Basis attribute of the part is set to “Part Effectivity”, the last rule will be the only prerequisite for associating a part to an aircraft.
