Basics of using a typical web page

Using Online Help

This page allows you to retrieve the details of the deferred items. You can carry out the search using the deferred item number, its description, deferral category, deferral type, part number, part description, ATA chapter number, zone number, position code and position type.

The Help on Deferral/CDL item # page appears

The system displays the following fields in the “Aircraft Details” group box:

Aircraft Reg #

The registration number of the aircraft.

Aircraft Model #

The number identifying the aircraft model.

Configuration Class

The configuration class to which the aircraft model is associated.

Revision #

The revision number of the model configuration.

Deferred Item #

The deferral item number against which a discrepancy has been reported (Alphanumeric, 150). You can enter the deferral item number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the deferral items having the number specified here.

Item Description

The textual description of the deferral item (Alphanumeric, 255). You can enter the description in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the deferral items having the description specified here.

Zoom facility available.

Deferral Category

Use the drop-down list box to specify the deferral category.  The system lists all the active deferral categories defined in the login organization unit. The system retrieves all the deferral items with the deferral category specified here. Leave this field blank, if you wish to retrieve deferral items irrespective of the deferral category entered here.

Deferral Type

Use the drop-down list box to specify the deferral type for the discrepancy. The system displays the following options:

  • Deferral – Refers to Minimum Equipment List approved by the local airworthiness authority, which may remain in an unserviceable state for a certain period, but still provide an acceptable level of safety in the operation of the aircraft.

  • CDL - Listing of FAA-approved non-structural external parts that may be missing but the airplane remains airworthy.

  • Others – Select this option if the deferral type for the discrepancy is not “Deferral” or “CDL”.

The system retrieves all the deferral items of the type specified here. Leave this field blank, if you wish to retrieve deferral items irrespective of the deferral type entered here.

Part #

The part number of the deferred item (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the part number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the deferral items associated to the part number entered here.

Part Description

The textual description of the part (Alphanumeric, 150). You can enter the part description in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the deferral items associated having the description specified here.

Zoom facility available.

ATA #

The ATA chapter number associated to the position code (Alphanumeric, 16). You can enter the ATA chapter number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the deferral items having the ATA chapter entered here.

Zone #

The zone associated to the position code (Alphanumeric, 15). You can enter the zone in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the deferral items associated to the zone specified here.

Position Code

The code identifying the position to which the part is attached (Alphanumeric, 25). You can enter the position code in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the deferral items associated to the position code specified here.

Position Type

Use the drop-down list box to specify the position type. The system lists the options “Engine”, “APU”, “Landing Gear” and “Others”. The system retrieves all the deferral items associated to the position type specified here. Leave this field blank, if you wish to retrieve deferral items irrespective of the position type entered here.

Deferral Task #

The task performed during the first scheduled maintenance to rectify a deferred discrepancy, which would have occurred during a maintenance activity. You can enter the task number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the deferral items associated to the task number specified here.

Deferral Rev. Task #

The task performed during the second scheduled maintenance in case of further deferment in the discrepancy rectification. This task can be same as the deferral task or a different task as per the requirements. You can enter the task number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the deferral items associated to the task number specified here.

The system displays the following fields in the “Search Results” multiline:

The system displays “Yes” in this field, when the deferral quantity for the part is less than the total quantity specified for the part in the model. This indicates that the position code details, for the quantity of the part included in the deferral, is entered in the “Edit MEL Position Information” page.
