Creating deferral category
This page allows you to create deferral category.
Select the “Create Deferral Category” link under the “Configuration” business component.
The “Create Deferral Category” page appears.
Enter the following fields in the “Deferral Category Details” group box:
Deferral Category |
A unique identifier for the deferral category (Alphanumeric, 30). Mandatory. This field can be a combination of characters and digits. |
Description |
The textual description of the deferral category (Alphanumeric, 150). Mandatory. |
Limit Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type of deferral limit associated to a deferral category based on which the MEL/CDL Item number gets deferred. This could be "Time Limited", "Usage Limited" or "Time and Usage Limited".
The system displays “Time Limited” by default. |
Limit Basis |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the limit basis for the time and usage based deferral The system lists the following options:
Data selection in this field is mandatory when you have selected “Time and Usage Limited" in the "Limit Type" field. Leave this field blank, if the “Limit Type” is set to “Time Limited” or “Usage Limited”. |
Time Based Deferral
Enter the following in the “Time Based Deferral Limits” group box:
Deferral Duration |
The duration or period for which the MEL/CDL item number can be deferred (Decimal). The value entered here must be positive. Data entry in this field is mandatory if you have selected "Time Limited" or "Time and Usage Limited” in the “Limit Type” field. Select the time unit for the deferral in the drop-down list box provided alongside. The system lists the options “Days”, “Hours” and “Months”. |
Note: You should leave this field blank, if the “Limit Type” field is set to “Usage Limited”.
Usage Based Deferral
Enter the following field in the “Usage Based Deferral Limits” multiline:
Parameter |
The unique code identifying the parameter, as defined in the “Aircraft” business component (Alphanumeric, 40). Ensure that the type of the parameter specified here is “Consumption Type” and the parameter is in the “Active” status. Help facility available. |
Note: Ensure that at least one parameter is entered, if a value exists in either “Deferral Duration” or “Deferral Limits” field.
The system displays the following in the “Usage Based Deferral Limits” multiline:
Note: The system retrieves all the parameter codes associated to the Base Parameters 'Aircraft Flying Hours', Aircraft Flying Cycles', 'Engine Cycles', and 'Engine Hours' in the multiline. These details are retrieved from the "Aircraft" business component.

Enter the following field in the multiline:
Deferral Limits |
The value of the parameter based on which the MEL/CDL item number is deferred (Alphanumeric, 15). The value entered here must be positive. Data entry in this field is mandatory if you have selected "Usage Limited" or "Time and Usage Limited” in the “Limit Type” field. |
Note: You should leave this field blank, if the “Limit Type” field is set to “Time Limited”.
Enter the following field:
Remarks |
Any remark or comment pertaining the deferral category (Alphanumeric, 255). |
Click the “Delete” icon in the toolbar above the multiline, to delete the selected parameter.
Click the “Create Deferral Category” pushbutton to create the deferral category.
Note: The deferral category is created and the status is set as “Active”.
