Manage Recommended Spare Parts List – A summary of the activity

Typically, in the aviation industry, OEMs will provide the list of spare parts that has to be maintained at A/C Model level. Based on the recommended spare parts list provided by OEM, the inventory float gets computed. In this activity, recommended spare Part List for a given A/C Model can be defined and maintained. This activity also maintains the A/C Models for which a part serves as the spare along with additional RSPL Information.

Managing Recommended Spare Parts List

ØSelect the “Manage Recommended Spare Parts List” activity under the “Aircraft” business component.

The “Manage Recommended Spare parts List” page appears.

ØEnter the following fields in the header section:

Note: This section does not appear when the screen is launched from “Part Administration” business component.

A/C Model #

The number identifying the Aircraft Model for which the spare parts are defined. Mandatory.

Help facility available.

RSPL Rev. #

Use the drop-down list box to specify the revision number of the RSPL document. The system lists all the available revisions for the Aircraft Model. The system displays the latest Revision #, by default.

Status

Use the drop-down list box to specify the status of the revision # of the RSPL document. The system lists the values ‘Fresh’, ‘Active’, ‘Inactive’ and ‘Revised’ along with a blank value. The system leaves the field blank, by default.

Note: When the screen is launched from “Customer” business component, the header section displays ‘Customer #’ in addition to the search fields mentioned above. Refer “Customer” business component for more information.

The system displays the following fields in the “Part Info.” section:

Part #

The number identifying the spare part.

Part Description

The description of the spare part.

Part Type

 The type of the part which could be ‘Raw Material’, ‘Component’, ‘Expendable’, ‘Tool’, ‘Consumable’, ‘Kit’ or ‘Miscellaneous’.

Part Planning Group

The planning group code of the part mentioned in the “Maintain Planning Information” activity of the “Part Administration” business component.

Part #

The number identifying the spare part for the Aircraft Model. Mandatory.

Part Classification

Use the drop-down list box to specify the classification of the part. The system lists the values ‘Controllable’, ‘None’, ‘Repairable’ and ‘Rotable’ along with a blank value. The system leaves the field blank, by default.

Essentiality Code

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether the aircraft is permitted to fly with or without the spare part specified by the OEM. The system lists the following values along with a blank value.

§  No-Go – Indicates that the aircraft can fly without the spare part for a limited period, without any specific conditions.

§  Go-If – Indicates that the aircraft can fly without the spare part for a limited period, with specific conditions.

§  Go – Indicates that the aircraft cannot fly without the spare part.

The system leaves the field blank, by default.

MTBUR

The Mean Time Between Unscheduled Removals for the spare part #.

Note: The value entered should be neither 0 nor a negative value.

Unit

Use the drop-down list box to specify the unit for MTBUR. The system lists all the ‘active’ parameters of Parameter Type 'Range' defined in the “Create Parameters” activity of the “Aircraft” business component along with a blank value. The system leaves the field blank, by default.

Scrap Rate (in %)

The Scrap rate of the part # in percentage.

Note: The value entered should be greater than 0 and less than 100

Mean Shop Processing Time

The Mean Shop Processing Time for the spare part #.

Note: The value entered should be neither 0 nor a negative value.

MSPT UOM

Use the drop-down list box to specify the unit of measurement for MSPT. The system lists the values ‘Days’, ‘Weeks’ and ‘Months’ along with a blank value. The system leaves the field blank, by default.

QPA

The number of spare parts per aircraft.

UOM

The unit of measurement for QPA.

BFE

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether the spare part is BFE(Buyer Furnished Equipment). The system lists the values ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ along with a blank value. The system leaves the field blank, by default.

Power Plant Part ?

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether the spare part is power plant part(Engine). The system lists the values ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ along with a blank value. The system leaves the field blank, by default.

NHA Part #

The parent part effective for the spare part. This implies that the spare part can be attached to this Next Higher Assembly (NHA) part.

Qty / NHA

The number of NHA Parts for the spare part.

NHA UOM

The unit of measurement for NHA.

ATA #

The ATA chapter to which the spare part belongs.

Source Doc. Type

Use the drop-down list box to specify the type of source document. The system lists the following options.

§  IPC – indicates that the source document is an Illustrated Parts catalogue.

§  Eng. Doc – indicates that the source document is an Engineering Document.

§  Others – indicates that the source document could be any document other than “IPC” and “Eng. Doc".

The system displays the value “IPC” by default.

Source Doc. #

The number identifying the source document.

User Defined Detail – 1

Use the drop-down list box to specify the user defined detail pertaining to the part. The system lists all the ‘active’ quick codes defined under Quick Code Type ‘User Defined Details1’ in the “Create Quick Codes” activity of the “Aircraft” business component.

User Defined Detail – 2

Use the drop-down list box to specify the user defined detail pertaining to the part. The system lists all the ‘active’ quick codes defined under Quick Code Type ‘User Defined Details2’ in the “Create Quick Codes” activity of the “Aircraft” business component.

User Defined Detail – 3

Use the drop-down list box to specify the user defined detail pertaining to the part. The system lists all the ‘active’ quick codes defined under Quick Code Type ‘User Defined Details3’ in the “Create Quick Codes” activity of the “Aircraft” business component.

User Defined Detail – 4

Use the drop-down list box to specify the user defined detail pertaining to the part. The system lists all the ‘active’ quick codes defined under Quick Code Type ‘User Defined Details4’ in the “Create Quick Codes” activity of the “Aircraft” business component.

User Defined Detail – 5

Use the drop-down list box to specify the user defined detail pertaining to the part. The system lists all the ‘active’ quick codes defined under Quick Code Type ‘User Defined Details5’ in the “Create Quick Codes” activity of the “Aircraft” business component.

Part Description

The textual description of the spare part.

Part Type

Use the drop-down list box to specify the type of the part. The system lists the options ‘Raw Material’, ‘Component’, ‘Expendable’, ‘Tool’, ‘Consumable’, ‘Kit’ and ‘Miscellaneous’ along with a blank value. The system leaves the field blank, by default.

Part Planning Group

Use the drop-down list box to specify the planning group of the part. The system lists all the Group codes defined under Purpose ‘Material Planning’ in the “Create Part/Service Groups” activity of the “Part Administration” business component.

Remarks

Any additional remarks pertaining to the spare part.

ØClick the “Save” pushbutton to save the entered details.

The system generates the Recommended Spare Parts List in ‘Fresh’ status with Revision # as 0.               If the details are already available in ‘Active’ status, the system generates Revision # by incrementing 1 value if any value is modified / deleted and latest revision # will be in ‘Fresh’ status. The old revision #s status will be updated as ‘Revised’.

ØClick the “Confirm” pushbutton to confirm the Recommended Spare Parts List.

The system updates the status of RSPL Revision # for Aircraft Model # as ‘Active’.

To proceed, carry out the following:

ØSelect the “Maintain Alternate Part Nos” link at the bottom of the screen to update the alternate part numbers for the spare part.

ØSelect the “Upload Documents” link at the bottom of the screen to upload the associated documents.

ØSelect the “View Associated Doc. Attachments” link at the bottom of the screen to view the associated documents.

The system displays the following fields in the “Record Statistics” group box:

Created By

The name of the user who created the RSPL document.

Created Date

The date on which the RSPL document was created.

Last Modified By

The name of the user who last modified the RSPL document.

Last Modified Date

The date on which the RSPL document was last modified.

Confirmed By

The name of the user who confirmed the RSPL document.

Confirmed Date

The date on which the RSPL document was confirmed.
