Create Asset Group – A summary of the activity

Component overview

This activity allows you to create groups under which the assets can be grouped. Assets are usually grouped under significant common heads for the purpose of analysis or for generating reports. A hierarchical structure is followed to create the asset groups to facilitate easy analysis and reports. Once a group is created, you can add new groups under it thereby elevating it to be a parent group. You can also insert new groups in the structure by elevating an asset group as a parent group. Asset groups are created at the company level to maintain uniformity among the various organization units.

The manufacturer from whom the asset has been purchased or the usage of the asset can be a typical example of an asset group.

In the example illustrated below Computers, Processor Speed and HDD Capacity are asset groups. Each of these asset groups becomes the parent group when a new group is added under it.

This page allows you to define codes for the asset groups along with the description. You can also create new asset groups under asset groups that have been already defined. This page provides you with an option to retrieve a parent group entered in the header in the multiline. The system stores the login ID of the user and the system date along with the asset group details.
