Planning resources for the work order
This page allows you to plan the resources that are required for carrying out the work order. Tell me more.
Select the “Plan Resources” link at the bottom of the “Select Work Order” page.
The “Plan Resources” page appears.
The system displays the following:
Date & Time Format |
The format in which the date and time fields are displayed. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date and time format from the "Enterprise Modeling" business component by default. |
The system displays the following details in the “Work Order Details” group box:
Work Order # |
The work order selected in the “Select Work Order” page, for which you wish to plan resources. |
Enter the following fields:
Select Resource From |
Use the drop-down list box to select the work center from which you wish to assign resources. The system provides the options, “All Work Centers” and “Current Work Center”. The system displays “All Work Centers” by default. |
Select “All Work Centers”, if you wish to retrieve the resources for the selected resource type that is available in all the work centers. | |
Select “Current Work Center”, if you wish to retrieve the resources for the selected resource type that is available in the work center in which the work order task or work order is executed. | |
Task # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the task for which you wish to plan resources. The system lists all the tasks that are associated to the work order. The system displays the number as a combination of the task number and the sequence number. The system sets the field blank by default. Leave this field blank to plan resources for the entire work order. |
The system displays the following fields:
Task Description |
The textual description of the work order task. Zoom facility available. |
Aircraft Reg # |
The aircraft in which the work order task is executed. |
Visit Package # |
The visit package created for the aircraft. |
Work Center # |
The work center that is responsible for the execution of the work order task or work order. |
Status |
The status of the work order, which could be “Fresh”, “Scheduled” or “In-Progress”. |
Enter the following fields:
Reference Date |
The starting date from which you wish to view the loading details for the resource (Date Format). If this field is left blank, the system assumes the scheduled start date as the reference date. |
Resource Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type of resource that you wish to assign to the work order task or the work order. The system lists the options, “Skill”, “Equipment”, “Tools” and “Others”. The system sets the field blank by default. Leave this field blank, to retrieve all the resources available in the work center irrespective of the type. |
Click the “Get Details” pushbutton to retrieve the resource details:
Enter the following in the “Schedule Details” group box:
Sch. Start Date & Time |
The scheduled start date and time from which the resource is assigned to the work order task or the work order (Date and Time Format). Mandatory. |
Sch. End Date & Time |
The scheduled end date and time till which the resource is assigned to the work order task or the work order (Date and Time Format). Mandatory. Ensure the date is greater than or equal to the starting schedule date. |
Note: If the starting and ending schedule dates are the same, ensure the ending time is greater than the starting time.
The system displays the following field on clicking the “Edit Schedules” pushbutton:
Suggested Date |
The latest date of all the earliest available dates of the resources. |
Enter the following field:
User Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the user status of the work order. The system lists all the quick codes of type “User Status” as defined in the “Create Quick Codes” activity. The system sets the field blank by default. |
The system displays the following in the “Customer Details” group box:
Customer # |
The number identifying the customer, who owns the aircraft |
Customer Name |
The name of the customer owning the aircraft. |
Customer Order # |
The number identifying the order placed by the customer. |
Aircraft Release Date |
The date on which the aircraft should be released to the customer, after the completion of the work order. |
Note: The "Customer #" and "Customer Name" fields are applicable only when the aircraft is not self-owned and the customer details are recorded in the system.
The system displays the following fields in the “Loading Details in %” group box:
Resource # |
The resource that is assigned to the work order task or work order. |
Resource Type |
The type to which the resource belongs. |
Work Center # |
The number identifying the work center in which the resource is available. |
If the “Select Resource From” is set as “Current Work Center” and if the resource type selected is not available in the work center, the system displays “Not Available” in this field.
Earliest Available Date |
The earliest date by which the resource is available for the work order task or work order. The earliest available date is the earliest date from the reference date on which the percentage loading of the resource becomes 100. |
Day 1 … Day 15 |
The percentage of utilization of the resource on each day starting from the date specified in the “Reference Date” field. The loading is calculated as follows: |

The loading is then calculated using the following formula: Resource Loading = Assigned hours of the resource * 100 / Available Hours of the resource * Productivity factor. |
Note: Productivity factor is the number that indicates the efficiency of the resource that is specified in the “Associate Work Center Attributes” activity of the “Work Center” business component. The productivity factor is assumed as 1 if it is not already specified for the resource.

Click the “Edit Schedules” pushbutton to update the resource assignments for the work order task or work order.
The system updates the modified assigned date and time and stores the name of the login user and the current server date as the last modified date of the work order.

Planning resources for the work order – An overview
This page allows you to plan the resources that are required for carrying out the work order as well as for the tasks that are specified in the work order. You can assign resources to the work order selected in the “Select Work Order” page.
You can enter the resource assignment details by selecting the task associated to the work order or the work order itself. The resource assignment can be entered for the resource type and work order task or for resource type and work order combination. When you assign the resources for the first time, the system displays the details of the resources that are already estimated for the work order task or the work order.
You can schedule details such as the start date and time from which the resource is assigned, the end date and time until which the resource is assigned. You can assign the resource to the same task more than once on different assignment dates.

You can modify the resource assignment details for the resource assigned to the work order. You can select the task, resource type and modify the details.
Select the appropriate work order task in the “Task” drop-down list box.
Select the resource type in the “Resource Type” drop-down list box to which the resource belongs.
Enter the start date and time from which the resource is assigned to the task.
Enter the end date and time till which the resource is assigned to the task.
Click the “Edit Schedules” pushbutton, to modify the resource assignment details.
