Selecting work order for creating maintenance material request
This page allows you to search and select the work order or work order tasks. Tell me more.
Select the “Create Maintenance Material Request” link under the “Hangar Work Order” business component.
The “Select Work Order” page appears.
The system displays the following field:
Date Format |
The format in which the date field is displayed. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user id. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the "Enterprise Modeling" business component by default. |
Enter the following field in the “Direct Entry” group box, if you know the exact work order number:
Work Order # |
The number of the work order for which you need to create the material request (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the work order number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the work orders that are similar to the number entered here. Leave this field blank to retrieve all the work orders. |
Select the “Create Material Request” link alongside, to create the maintenance material request for the work order.
Note: You cannot move to the “Create Material Request” page unless you select a part type in the “Select Part Type” group-box.
To search for a work order
Enter the following fields in the “Search Criteria” group box, to search for a work order. Data entry in the following fields is optional:
Display Options |
Use the drop-down list box to specify whether you need to retrieve work orders or work order tasks. The system provides the options, “Visit Package”, “Work Order” and “WO-Task”. The system displays “WO-Task” by default. |

Note: The system retrieves only those work orders /tasks which does not have any transient status. |

Job Status |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the job status of the work order. The system provides the options, “Fresh”, “Scheduled” and “In-progress”. The system retrieves all the work orders whose job status is similar to the status specified here. Leave this field blank to retrieve all the work orders, irrespective of their job status. |
Work Order # |
The number of the work order for which you need to create the material request (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the work order number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the work orders that are similar to the number entered here. Leave this field blank to retrieve all the work orders. |
Advance Search ID |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the code that identifies a set of advanced search options to retrieve the work order. The system lists all the advance search IDs for the login user in the login organization unit. The system retrieves all the work orders based on the filter criteria specified in the selected advanced search criteria. Leave this field blank to retrieve all the work orders or work order tasks, irrespective of the advance search options. |
Click the “Edit” link alongside, to modify the advanced search criteria.
Work Center # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the work center, to which the work order you need to retrieve, is attached. The system lists all the 'active' work centers defined in the “Create Work Center” activity of the “Work Center” business component. The system retrieves all the work orders attached to the work center specified here. |
User Status |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the user-defined status of the work order. The system lists all the “active” quick codes of type “User Status” as defined in the “Create Quick Codes” activity of the Material Request business component. The system retrieves all the work orders that are in the user-defined status specified here. Leave this field blank to retrieve all the work orders, irrespective of their user-defined status. |
Visit Package # |
The number identifying the visit package (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the work orders that are associated with the visit packages whose number is similar to the value specified here. Leave this field blank to search for all the work orders, irrespective of the visit package. |
Aircraft Reg # |
The registration number of the aircraft (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the aircraft registration number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the work orders associated with the aircraft whose number is similar to the value specified here. Leave this field blank to search for all work orders, irrespective of the aircraft. |
Sch. Start Date: From |
The starting date, in the range of scheduled start dates, on which the work order is planned to be started (Date Format). The system lists all the work orders that have scheduled start dates on or after the date entered in this field. |
Sch. Start Date: To |
The ending date, in the range of scheduled start dates, on which the work order is planned to be started (Date Format). The system lists all the work orders that have scheduled start dates on or before the date entered in this field. |
Part Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the part type for which you need to create or modify the maintenance material request. The system lists all the part types that are allowed in a single material request as set in the “Set Inventory Options” activity of the “Logistics Common Master” business component. If all part types are allowed, the system displays “All” as one of the options here. Otherwise, the system displays “Others”. |
Get |
Use the drop-down list box to select the specification for retrieving the work orders. The system gives the options: ''All Work Orders”, and “Pending Req. Work Orders”. The system sets this field to 'All Work Orders', by default. |
Note: Ensure that the “From” date is not later than the “To” date.
Enter the following fields:
Customer # |
The number identifying the customer who owns the aircraft (Alphanumeric, 18). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the hangar work orders raised for the aircraft whose owing agency number is similar to the customer number entered here. Leave this field blank to retrieve all the visit packages irrespective of the customer number entered here. |
Customer Name |
The name of the customer owning the aircraft (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the name in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the hangar work orders raised for the aircraft whose owning agency name is similar to the customer name entered here. Leave this field blank to retrieve all the visit packages irrespective of the customer name entered here. |
Click the “Search” pushbutton to search for the work orders.
Note: The system retrieves only those work orders for which the aircraft is not in “Frozen” record status.
Note: The system retrieves only those visit packages, which are in “Released” or “Partially Released” status or the work orders which are in 'Fresh', 'Scheduled' or 'In-Progress' status or the tasks which are in 'Fresh', 'Scheduled' or 'In-Progress' status. The system retrieves the details according to the option selected in the “Display Option” field.
If the option in the 'Get' combo is selected as 'Pending Req. Work orders', then the system fetches only those records for which some more parts are yet to be requested
The system displays the following fields in the “Search Results” multiline:
Visit Package # |
The number that identifies the visit package to which the work order is associated. |
Work Order # |
The work order retrieved by the system. |
Task # |
The task associated to the work order. This field appears blank if you have set the "Display Option" field to "Work Order". |
Job Status |
The status of the task associated to the work order. |
Aircraft Reg # |
The number that identifies the task to which the work order is associated. |
Work Center # |
The work center to which the work order is assigned. |
Job Type |
The job type of the task, which could be “Aircraft”, “On-Wing” or “Component Removal”. |
MR Count |
The total number of material requests that have been raised for the work order. |
Task Description |
The textual description of the task. This field appears blank if you have set the "Display Option" field to "Work Order". |
Work Order Description |
The textual description of the work order. |
Customer # |
The number identifying the customer, who owns the aircraft. |
Customer Name |
The name of the customer owning the aircraft. |
Note: The "Customer #" and "Customer Name" fields are applicable only when the aircraft is not self-owned and the customer details are recorded in the system.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the work order or work order task for which you need to create or modify maintenance material request.
Enter the following field in the “Select Part Type” group box:
Part Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the part type for which you need to create or modify the maintenance material request. The system lists all the part types that are allowed in a single material request as specified in the “Set Inventory Options” activity of the “Logistics Common Master” business component. If all part types are allowed, the system displays “All” as one of the options here. Otherwise, the system displays “Others”. |
Click the “Create Material request” pushbutton if you wish to create the maintenance material request for the selected work order or work order task.
The system performs the following on clicking the “Create Material Request” pushbutton:
Creates the material request for the selected part type.
If the work order has reference to customer order and if the current business component interacts with the “Customer Order” business component, then the sytem updates the stock status for all the requested parts, based on the Preferred Stock Status identified for the reference Customer Order in “Customer Order” business component. Else, the system updates the preferred stock status identified for the Aircraft Reg # from the “Aircraft” business component.
Generates the material request number and status based on the options selected in the “Set Options” activity of the current business component. The system updates the “Material Request” business component with the source as 'Hangar' and reference doument type as 'Hangar Work Order' (If MR is for Work Order / Task) or 'Visit Package' (if MR is for Visit level requirements).
On auto-creation of MR, the system performs the following if the hangar work order is based on the customer order:
a. updates the “Request For” field as “Customer”, “Internal” or “Internal and Customer” in the “Material Request” business component, if Customer Order reference is identified for the Work Order, based on the value set in the “Spares Supplied By” field in the “Customer Order” business component.
b. updates the “Request For” field as “Internal” in the Material Request” business component, if the ownership of the aircraft identified in the work order is “Owned” or “Leased Out”. Else, the system updates the value “Internal and Customer” in the “Request For” field.
c. updates the warehouse for the part from the “Storage Administration“ business component.
Note: For work orders that are not customer based, the system updates the warehouse for the part from the “Work Center” business component.
Assigns work center based on the part type selected as defined in the “Work Center” business component.
Sets the type of the material request as “Maintenance” and the category as “Planned”.
Stores the name of the currently logged in user and current server date as the “created date”.
Sets the lowest of all the scheduled start dates for the selected work orders as the “Need date”.
Sets the scheduled end date of the selected work order or the planned end date of the visit package, whichever is later, as the expected date of return (for part type whose issue basis is “Returnable”).
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “Create Material Request” link to create the maintenance material request for the selected work order or work order task.
Select the “Edit Material Request” link at the bottom of the page to modify the material request details.
Select the “Set Adv. Search Criteria” field to enter advance search options to search for work orders.
Select the “Edit Work Order Level/Task Level Part Requirements” link to modify part requirements of the selected work order/task.
Note: If multiple tasks are selected in the multiline, then ensure that the selected tasks belong to the same work order.
Selecting work order for creating maintenance material request – An overview
This page allows you to search and select the work order or work order tasks for which you need to create the maintenance material request. You can enter the work order in the “Direct Entry” group box, if you know the number. Otherwise, you can specify the work order number, work center to which they are associated, advance search ID, status, user status, visit package, aircraft and a range of scheduled dates for the work order. You can also set the option for displaying work orders or work order tasks. The system displays all the visit packages, work orders or work order tasks based display option selected in the search criteria.
