Creating a work group
This activity allows you to define a work group.
Select the “Create Work Group” link under the “Hangar Work Order” business component.
The “Create Work Group” page appears.
Enter the following fields in the “Group Details” group box:
Work Group # |
A unique identifier for the work group (Alphanumeric, 15). Mandatory. This can be a combination of characters and digits. |
Name |
The name of the work group (Alphanumeric, 150). Mandatory. Zoom facility available. |
Work Center # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the work center to which the work group is attached. Mandatory. The system lists all the “active” work centers defined in the “Create Work Center” activity of the “Work Center” business component. |
Group Category |
Use the drop-down list box to select the category of the work group. The system lists all the “active” quick codes of type “Work Group Category” as defined in the “Create Quick Codes” activity of the current business component. |
Group Leader |
The code identifying the leader of the work group (Alphanumeric, 20). Ensure this value is already defined in the “Create Employee File“ activity of the “Employee Information” business component and is in “active” status. Help facility available. |
Lead Skill # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the number identifying the lead skill of the work group. The system lists all the “Skill” types as created in the “HR Setup” business component. |
Check the following boxes to indicate the “Applicability” of the work group:

Check this box, if the work group is created for line maintenance activities. |
Hangar |
Check this box, if the work group is created for hangar maintenance activities. |
The system displays the following on clicking the “Create Work Group” pushbutton:
Group Leader Name |
The name of the group leader. Zoom facility available. |
Enter the following in the “Employee Details” multiline:
Employee # |
The code that identifies the employee who is part of the work group (Alphanumeric, 15). Ensure this value is already defined in the “Create Employee File“ activity of the “Employee Information” business component and is in “active” status. Help facility available. |
The system displays the following fields:
Employee Name |
The name of the employee. |
Work Center # |
The work center to which the employee is attached. |
Primary Skill # |
The code that identifies the primary skill of the employee. |
Lead Skill |
The lead skill of the employee. |
Resource Group |
The resource group to which the employee belongs such as inspector, mechanic or others. |
Productivity Factor |
The number that indicates the efficiency of the employee on a 0 to 1 scale. |
Service Area |
The area in which the employee can serve, which can be one of the following: |

Enter the following in the “Work Group Remarks” group box:
Remarks |
Any additional remarks pertaining to the work group (Alphanumeric, 255). Zoom facility available. |
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to delete an employee from the work group.
Click the Delete icon in the toolbar above the multiline to delete the selected employee from the work group.
Click the “Create Work Group” pushbutton to create the work group.
The system creates the work group in “active” status in the login organization unit. The system stores the name of the login user and the current server date as the created date of the work group.

“ Create Employee File“ activity of the “Employee Information” business component.
You can define a work group by assigning a unique number to it. You can also add employees to the work group created.
Enter the unique number for the work group in the “Work Group #” field.
Select the work center to which the work group is attached, in the “Work Center #” field.
Select the category of the work group, in the “Group Category” field.
Select the lead skill of the work group, in the “Lead Skill #” field.
In the “Employee Details” multiline, enter the code of the employee you wish to add to the work group, in the “Employee #” field.
Click the “Create Work Group” pushbutton, to create the work group and add the employees to the work group.
