Maintain Other Part Nos – A summary of the activity

This activity allows you to update the other part numbers of a selected part. You can also modify the other part number information.

A part is identified in different ways by the organization, using the part and the manufacturer number. During the purchase activity, an order has to be placed with the supplier, quoting the reference number used by him. This reference number could belong to his catalogue or it could also be the manufacturer code. These numbers are considered equivalents of the part numbers issued by the organization.

The “Select Part #” page allows you to search and select a part number to update its other part number information. The “Maintain Other Part Nos” page allows you to update the other part number information of the selected part.

Other part numbers are the equivalent (used by vendors/competitors/other available sources) of the internal part numbers. The sources from where the parts are obtained are already defined in the “Create Source Definition” activity.

• Go to “Select Part #” page to select the part number for which the other part numbers must be identified.

• Go to “Maintain Other Part Nos” page to create the other part numbers for the part.
