Associating part groups to part
In this page you can associate part groups to part. Part groups are created in the “Create Part Groups” activity for maintenance, inventory, purchase, operation, sales and accounting purposes. You can specify the part group code that must be associated to the part.
Select the “Associate Part Groups” link at the bottom of the “Create Part Main Information” or “Edit Main Information” page.
The “Associate Part Groups” page appears.
The system displays the following fields in the “Part Details” group box:

The part to which the part groups must be associated. |
Part Description |
The textual description of the part. |
Part Type |
The type of the part. |
Part Category |
The category to which the part belongs. |
Enter the following fields in the “Group Details” multiline:
Note: The primary part group as selected in the Create / Edit Part Main Information or Create Quick Parts page is displayed as the first record in the multiline and it cannot be deleted.
Group Code |
The number identifying the part group to which you wish to associate to the part (Alphanumeric, 40). Mandatory. Ensure that the group code is already defined in the “Create Part Groups” activity. Help facility available. |
The system displays the following field:
Group Description |
The textual description of the part group. |
Controlled? |
Indicates whether is set to “Yes” or “No”. |
Purpose |
The applicable purpose of the part group as defined in the “Create Part Group” activity. The system displays the following values: "Pricing", "Taxes and Charges", "Product Line", "Capability Definition" or "VAT". |
Note: Ensure that if a part is associated to a Controlled Part Group with a specific purpose, then it cannot be associated to another “Controlled” part group with the same purpose. However it can be associated to any other “non-controlled” Part Group with different / same purpose
Check the box in the column of the multiline to mark the group code for deletion.
Click the Delete icon in the tool bar above the multiline, to delete the group codes selected in the multiline.
Click the “Associate Groups” pushbutton to associate part groups to the part.
