This page allows you to create a part / service group type. Tell me more.

Group Code

The drop-down list box displays those group codes for which Associate parts or Associate Services is set as 'Yes'.

Group Description

The textual description of the part / service group (Alphanumeric, 150). Mandatory.

Associate Attributes

Use the drop-down list box to indicate whether the attributes must be associated to the part / service group. The system lists the options “Yes” and “No”.

Associate Parts

Use the drop-down list box to indicate whether the parts must be associated to the part / service group. The system lists the options “Yes” and “No”.

Associate Services

Use the drop-down list box to indicate whether the part must be associated to the service group. The system lists the options “Yes” and “No”.

Note: You can select ‘Yes’ in any one of the two columns: Associate Parts or Associate Services not both.

Controlled?

Use the drop-down list box to indicate whether the part / service group is controlled. Select ”Yes” to make the part / service group controlled. Select “No”, if you do not want the part / service group to be controlled.

Purpose

Use the drop-down list box to specify the applicable purposes of the part / service group. Mandatory. The system displays the following values: "Pricing", "Taxes and Charges", "Product Line", "Capability Definition",  "VAT", "Reliability Analysis", "Contract Part Effectivity", "HSN Code", "Pool Effectivity", "SAC Code", "Material Burden", "Asset Proposal", "Material Planning" and "Inventory Planning".

 

 

Note: The Controlled? and Purpose attributes bear implications when you associate a part to a part / service group.  If a part is associated to a Controlled Part / Service Group with a specific purpose, then it cannot be associated to another “Controlled” part / service group with the same purpose. However it can be associated to any other “non-controlled” Part / Service Group with different / same purpose. Further, the following field value combinations are valid for selection.

Create Part Groups - A summary of the activity

You can create part / service groups in this page. Parts with similar characteristics or features are grouped together to form a part / service group. You can enter a unique code for the part / service group and provide a description for it. You can also specify whether the attributes and parts must be associated to the part / service group.
