Using Online Help

This page allows you to define part group hierarchy.

The “Build Group Hierarchy” page appears.

Group Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the part group type for which you wish to define the hierarchy details. The system lists all the part group types defined in the “Create Group Type” activity.

The system displays the following fields in the “Search Criteria” group box:

Usage

The usage of the group type, which could be “Maintenance", "Operation", "Inventory", “Purchase”, “Sales”, “Accounting” or "Others".

Group Type Description

The description of the group type.

If the hierarchy is already defined for the part group type, the system displays the details in the “Part Group Details” multiline.

Group Code

The code identifying the part group that must be associated to the part group type (Alphanumeric, 40). Mandatory. Ensure that the part group code is already defined in the “Create Part Groups” activity and is in “Active” status. Also the group code must be unique in the multiline.

The system displays the following field in the “Part Group Details” multiline:

Group Description

The textual description of the part group

Level #

Use the drop-down list box to indicate the level of the hierarchy at which the part group is located. The system lists the options “1”, “2”, “3” and “4”.

Parent Group

The code identifying the parent part group (Alphanumeric, 40). This part group must be entered as one of the values in the preceding levels in the multiline.

You cannot enter this field for the part group at level “1”,.

Note: If you delete a part group that is already associated to the hierarchy, then the child group is also deleted. For example, if a part group “G1” is deleted, then the part group “G2” which has the parent as “G1”, is deleted by the system.
