Entering minimum equipment list for model configuration – An overview
Minimum equipment list (MEL) is the list of equipment approved by the aviation authority, which may remain in an unserviceable state under certain operating conditions, but still provide an acceptable level of safety in the operation of the aircraft.
This option allows you to add or modify the details of the parts included in the minimum equipment list. The following details can be entered:
the part number
whether the usage of the part in an unserviceable state is based on certain conditions
the conditions or the factors governing the usage of the part in an unserviceable state
the quantity of the part to be included in the MEL
the maintenance and operational implications of flying the aircraft with these parts in an unserviceable state.
The total quantity specified for the parts in the model configuration is displayed by the system. The MEL quantity for the part can be less than or equal to the total quantity specified for the part in the model. For every part, the position code details for the quantity included in the MEL can be entered in the “Edit MEL Position Information” page.
The system updates the details of the minimum equipment list and stores the name of the currently logged in user and the current server date.
