Defining piece part information for component configuration
This page allows you to identify piece parts for the component configuration. Tell me more
Select the “Edit piece Part List for Component” link at the bottom of the “Build Component Configuration” page.
The “Edit Piece Part List for Components” page appears.
The system displays the following fields in the “Component Details” group box:
Component # |
The component for which the piece part information must be entered. |
ATA # |
The ATA chapter to which the component belongs. |
Part # |
The part number to which the component belongs. Note |
Mfr. Part #/Mfr. # |
The manufacturer part number and the manufacturer number of the component. Note |
Serial # |
The serial number of the component. |
Part Description |
The textual description of the part. |
The system displays the following fields in the “Piece Part Details” multiline if you have already identified the piece parts for the component.
Enter the following fields, if you wish to add or modify the piece part information:
Seq # |
The sequence number for the piece part. |
Position # |
The position number corresponding to the piece part. Data entry in this field is mandatory if Reference Part # is duplicated. |
Position Description |
The textual description of the position. |
Reference Part # |
The reference part number in the piece part configuration. Mandatory. The part number entered here must be an ‘Active’ part defined in the “Part Administration” business component. You cannot modify the reference part. Help facility available. |
Reference Mfr. Part # |
The reference manufacturer part number in the piece part configuration. Mandatory. Help facility available. |
Reference Part Mfr. # |
The manufacturer number of the reference part in the piece part configuration. Mandatory. The manufacturer number entered is an 'Active' manufacturer defined in the “Aircraft” business component or a Supplier of type ‘Manufacturer’ defined in the “Supplier” business component. The system ensures that the Reference Mfr. Part # - Reference Part Mfr. # combination corresponds to a valid part as defined in the “Part Administration” component. Help facility available. |
Existing Part # |
The currently existing part number in the piece part configuration. The part number entered here must be an ‘Active’ piece part defined in the “Part Administration” business component. Help facility available. |
Existing Mfr. Part # |
The existing manufacturer part number. Help facility available. |
Existing Part Mfr. # |
The manufacturer number of the existing part in the piece part configuration. The manufacturer number entered is a valid manufacturer defined in the “Aircraft” business component or a Supplier of type ‘Manufacturer’ defined in the “Supplier” business component. The system ensures that the Existing Mfr. Part # - Existing Part Mfr. # combination corresponds to a valid part as defined in the “Part Administration” component. Help facility available. |
Note: You must enter the ‘Existing Part #’ or ‘Existing Mfr. Part #’, if ‘Existing Qty.’ is available.
Note: The reference / existing manufacturer part # and manufacturer # fields are displayed only if the parameter “Enable Manufacturer Part # control in transaction” under the Category ‘Manufacturer Part #’ is set as “Yes” in the “Set Inventory Process Parameters” activity of the “Logistics Common Master” business component.
The system displays the following field on clicking the “Edit Piece Part List” pushbutton:
Part Description |
The textual description of the reference Part will be displayed when existing part number is not available. The textual description of the Existing Part Number will be displayed when both Reference part Number and Existing part Number are available. |
Enter the following field:
Ref. Quantity |
The quantity of reference parts identified for the Piece Part configuration (Integer). Mandatory. Ensure that the value entered is positive. The system defaults ‘1’, if the user does not enter any value in this field. |
Existing Qty. |
The quantity of existing parts identified for the Piece Part configuration. (Integer). The Existing Quantity must be lesser than or equal to the Reference Quantity. The system defaults ‘1’, if the user does not enter any value in this field. |
Note: If you modify the quantity for the already associated piece part, then the quantity should be greater than the quantity that is already defined, the system generates the position codes for the additional piece parts.
The system displays the following field:
UOM |
The unit of measurement for the reference part to be displayed when Existing Part # is not available. The unit of measurement for the Existing Part Number to be displayed when both Reference Part # and Existing Part # are available. |
Enter the following fields in the multiline:
Position Type |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the type of the position code. Mandatory. The system provides the options, “Engine”, “APU”, “Landing Gear” and “Others”, along with other pre-defined Values. By default, the system displays “Others”. |
Position Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the status of the position code of the piece part. Mandatory. The system lists the values “Active” and “Inactive”. By default, the system displays “Active”. |
Ref. Doc # |
Any reference document for piece part configuration. |
Remarks |
Any remarks related to the piece part configuration. |
Check the box in the multiline to mark the piece part for deletion or for entering position details.
Click the Delete icon in the tool bar above the multiline, to delete the piece parts selected in the multiline.
Click the Re-Number pushbutton to Seq. # in the multiline and rearrange the existing rows in the ascending order of the Seq #.
Note: The system regenerates the sequence number in multiples of five, thereby enabling you to specify the sequence number for the newly added position code.
Click the “Edit Piece Parts List” pushbutton to update the details of the piece parts for the component configuration.
Note: The system updates the details of the piece parts and position codes for the trackable piece parts.
Restrictions on part/serial replacement
You cannot attach part #/serial # to a NHA/aircraft during the effective period, if the process parameter “Allow Component Attachment?” for the restriction code of the part #/serial # is ‘No’.
Similarly, you cannot remove part #/serial # from a NHA/aircraft during the effective period, if the process parameter “Allow Component Removal?” for the restriction code of the part #/serial # is ‘No’.
On the contrary, if the restriction code of the part#/serial # allows component attachment/removal, the system proceeds with replacement.
(You can place restrictions on attachment/removal of part#/serial# in the “Manage Part Restrictions” activity of Aircraft by associating a restriction code that does not allow attachment/removal during the period between Effective From and To dates. Restrictions placed on part # via the restriction code apply to all serial #s of the part. Restrictions can also be placed on a specific serial # or on a range of serial #s of a part. Process parameters of restriction codes determine whether they facilitate component replacement. And these are defined in the “Set Process Parameters” page of “Define Process Entities” activity of Common Master.)
Defining piece part information for component configuration – An overview
This page allows you to identify piece parts for the component configuration. Among the various parts associated or fitted to the aircraft, certain parts are identified as piece parts, which are defined in “Part Administration” business component. Some of these piece parts need to be tracked, for various reasons such as their high value in terms of their price, warranty requirements and to identify parts that are fitted on a trial basis.
You can identify the piece parts only for component configuration that is already defined. You can specify the number of piece parts of each type to be identified for the selected component configuration.
The piece parts need to be tracked for various reasons such as their high value in terms of their price, warranty requirements and to identify parts that are fitted on a trial basis. You can specify whether the piece part needs to be tracked or not.
