Select “Edit Hierarchy Chain” from the left pane.
The “Select Hierarchy to Edit Chain” page appears.
To select a hierarchy, specify the following
Hierarchies Unit |
The description of the Hierarchies Unit for which the organization hierarchy is defined. Select the required hierarchy unit from the drop-down list box. |
Language |
The system displays the language in which the login user logged in. In other words, this refers to the language you selected in the login screen, to access this activity. |

From the drop-down list box, select the required language. |
Hierarchy Short Description |
The short description of the hierarchy unit. |

Select the required value from the drop-down list box. |
A blank multiline appears, containing the following fields: “Hierarchy Chain Code”, “Hierarchy Chain Description” and a “Select” checkbox“.
Select the Hierarchy record, either through the “Direct Entry” group box or through the “Search Criteria” group box.
Use this method if you know the complete code of the required hierarchy chain.
Enter the complete code of the Hierarchy chain in the “Hierarchy chain Code” field.
Select the “Edit Hierarchy Chain” hyperlink beside.
The “Edit Hierarchy Chain” page appears. All details of the selected record are displayed.
To edit the Hierarchy Chain, refer to the topic “Editing Hierarchy Chain”.
Use this method if you know just a few characters of the Hierarchy chain code. In the search criteria group box, specify the search criteria based on which the system will fetch the records.
To specify the search criteria, you must enter one or more characters that the hierarchy chain code contains. Search based on wild card characters is also supported. To narrow your search to the closest matching records, you can also enter search criteria for the “Hierarchy Chain Description”.
Enter the following search criteria values, in some or all of the following fields.
Hierarchy Chain Code |
To view all the Hierarchy chain codes containing specific characters, type in a starting range of these characters along with the wild card character *. For example, if you type in H*, the system will display all the hierarchy chain records having the prefix H. |
Hierarchy Chain Description |
To view all Hierarchy Chain Descriptions containing specific characters, type in a range of these characters along with the wild card character "*". Examples: construction* |
Select the “Search” pushbutton.
Note:
If only one search criteria value is entered, the system will fetch the
records that satisfy this value.
If more than one search criteria value is entered, the system
will fetch the records satisfying all the specified values.
If you do not enter any value in the search criteria group
box and select the “Search” pushbutton, the system will fetch all the
records that are available for the selected organization structure unit.
The system displays the following details in the multiline, for the Hierarchy Chain records that satisfy the search criteria specified.

A unique code for each chain in the organization structure. |
Hierarchy Chain Description |
The description of each chain in the organization structure. |
Click on the “Select” checkbox of the required hierarchy chain record in the multiline.
The system displays the “Edit Hierarchy Chain” page, which you can use to edit the Hierarchy Chain details.
