This page allows you to view the availability of alternate part numbers for a particular part that exists in the inventory. When a part, which is not available in the inventory, is requested for issue, the material controller will be able to issue a substitute or an alternate part for the requested part, if allowed.

The “View Availability of Alternate Parts” page appears.

The system displays the following in the “Primary Part Information” group box:

Part #

The number identifying the part

Part Description

The textual description of the part.

Part Category

The category to which the part belongs.

Part Type

The part type, which could be “Raw Material", "Component", "Expendable", "Tool", "Consumable" or "Kit".

The system displays the following in the “Customer Information” group box:

Customer #

The code identifying the customer.

Customer Name

The name of the customer.

The system displays the following in the “Alternate Part Information” multiline:

Interchangeable Part #

The part number that can be used as a substitute for the primary part.

Alternate Type

The alternate type of the part, which could be “Direct”, “Conditional Alternate” or “Customer Specific”.

Note: The system displays “Direct” only if "Direct Alternate" is specified in the “Maintain Alternate Part Nos” page of the “Part Administration” business component.

Note: The system displays “Conditional Alternate” only if the “Alternate Type” is set to “Conditional Alternate”, and displays “Customer Specific” only if the “Alternate Type” is set to “Customer Specific” in the “Maintain Alternate Part Nos” page of the “Part Administration” business component.

Alternate Part - Condition

The circumstance in which you can use the alternate part as a substitute for the referenced part. The alternate part-condition specified in the “Maintain Alternate Part Nos” page of the “Part Administration” business component is displayed here, if “Alternate Type” is specified as “Conditional Alternate”.

Part Description

The textual description of the alternate part.

Warehouse #

The number identifying the warehouse.

Description

The textual description of the warehouse.

Total Quantity

The total quantity of the part available in the warehouse.

Available Quantity

The number of parts available in the warehouse in the particular stock status, which is not allocated.

Available Qty = Total Qty-Allocated Qty.

Allocated Qty

The quantity of stock allocated out of the total quantity available in the particular Stock Status.

UOM

The unit of measurement in which the part is stocked.

Stock Status

The stock status of the part.

Planning Type

The method in which the part requirement is planned. This could be "Reorder Level", "Min-Max", "Disposition" or "None".

Condition

The condition of the part.

Note: The system retrieves and displays the serial/lot or serial & lot controlled parts owned by the specific customer, if the “Alternate Type” is “Customer Specific” and if the customer number is available.

Note: For none-controlled parts, the system retrieves and displays the part details from the storage area specified in the ‘Storage Administration” business component.
