Maintaining storage allocation details - An overview
This page allows you to define the method to be adopted while allocating the part to the warehouse.
For a given part, the storage allocation can be of "Exclusive" or "Shared" or "Not Applicable". “Exclusive” indicates that only a specified category of parts can be allocated in the warehouse. “Shared” denotes that parts of all types can be stored in the warehouse. This means that the warehouse can be either exclusively reserved for storage of a specific part, or be ‘general’ in nature, where parts of all types can be stored. This proves useful while storing hazardous parts such as flammable materials or chemicals, which can be kept in an exclusive warehouse, to avoid accidents.
The storage allocation method will be applicable for all transactions such as receipts, issues, and returns.
You can also define rules for storing of parts. The "Only At" rule indicates that the part can be stored only at the specified warehouse. “Also At” rule indicates that the part can be stored in additional locations other than the warehouse mentioned.
If the storage category is "Exclusive" and the storage rule is "Only At", the part must not be allocated in any other location.
