Create Material Request – A summary of the activity
Material Request (MR) is a document through which a user department communicates the need for materials required for the execution of any activity, for a specific date to the respective stocking points, that is the warehouses. For planned maintenance activities, the planning or execution documents such as the visit package have the complete list of material requirement, however different materials may be required in different instances. Hence material request can be generated for different time frames to indicate to the stores clerk when a particular set of materials needs to be issued.
Similarly, there may be an unplanned event, say in a line station. The mechanic can prepare a material request or the stores personnel can create the MR with reference to an Aircraft Maint. Exe. Ref. #. There may even be requirements for general materials like tube lights or even printing stationery.
The relevant parts are issued from the warehouse as per the material request document. In the event of non-availability of material, the request can serve as a trigger to the material planner to initiate a purchase activity or a stock transfer from another stocking point.
A unique system generated number identifies each material request transaction. The “Create Material Request” page allows you to define the material request details.
Importantly, you can also choose to authorize a material request at the same time as creation.

Distinguish material request for AOG situation
You can prepare a material request for the aircraft on ground. In this situation the parts have to be made available immediately because the aircraft cannot fly without the part. MR of this type will be assigned the first priority.
Go to the “Create Material Request” page.
Set the “MR Priority” drop-down list box to “AOG” to indicate that the material request is prepared for the aircraft on ground.
View stock availability of the requested part and the substitute part
You can view the stock balance details of the requested part and the substitute part.
Use the “Inquire Warehouse Stock Balance” page to view the stock balance details of the requested part and substitute part in the warehouse .
