Basics of using a typical web page

Using Online Help

This page allows you to record the engine shut down and restart details. Tell me more.

The “Report Inflight Shut down Hours” page appears.

Note: The system will not launch this page, if the status of the flight is “Cancelled” or “Ground Turned Back”.

On launching the page, the system displays the engine details and the engine shut down hour details, if they are already defined for the journey log, aircraft registration number and engine position.

The system displays the following field:

Date & Time Format

The format in which the date and time fields are to be entered. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date and time format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default.

The system displays the following fields in the “Flight Details” group box:

Journey Log #

The number identifying the journey log for which the in-flight shut down details must be entered.

Aircraft Reg #

The registration number of the aircraft.

Aircraft Model #

The model to which the aircraft belongs.

Flight & Leg #

The flight and leg number of the journey log for which the inflight shut down details must be recorded.

Sch. Departure Date

The planned date of departure of the flight for which the inflight shut down details must be recorded.

Flight Status

The status of the flight for which the inflight shut down details must be recorded.

Log Leaf #

The number identifying the log leaf.

Engine Position #

Use the drop-down list box to select the position code of the engine for which the shut down / restart details must be entered. The system lists all the position codes of type “Engine” defined for the aircraft, from the “Configuration” business component.

The system displays the following fields in the “Engine Details” group box:

Component #

The component code of the part fitted in the position code.

Part #

The part number fitted in the position code.

Part Serial #

The serial number of the part fitted in the position code.

Part Description

The textual description of the part.

Inflight Shut Down Date

The date on which the engine shut down occurred (Date Format). Data entry in this field is mandatory, if the “Inflight Shut Down Time” and the “Inflight Restart Date” and “Shut Down Date” fields are entered. The system displays the actual departure date by default.

Note: The date entered here should lie between the journey start date and the arrival date. The system verifies this information based on the time zone specified in the “Time Zone” field.

Inflight Shut Down Time

The time at which the engine shut down occurred (Time Format). Data entry in this field is mandatory, if the “Inflight Shutdown Date” field is entered.

Note: The time entered here should lie within the time duration of the departure date and time and the arrival date and time for the journey log. The system verifies this information based on the time zone specified in the “Time Zone” field.

Time Zone

Use the drop-down list box to select the time zone in which the shut down date and time is recorded. The system lists the time zone that is set for the “Time Zone Reference for Log Records” in the “Set Options” activity.

If the “Time Zone Reference for Log Records” is set as “User Defined”, the system lists the options “UTC”, “Local”, “Starting Station” and “Destination Station”.

Shut Down Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the shut down. The system lists all the quick codes of the type “Shut Down Type” defined in the “Create Flight Log attributes“ activity of the “Common Master” business component. The system leaves the field blank by default.

Inflight Restart Date

The date on which the engine is re-started (Date Format). Mandatory. Ensure that the date entered in this field is in the format specified in the “Date & Time Format” field. Data entry in this field is mandatory, if the “Inflight Restart Time” field is entered.

Note: The date entered here should lie between the inflight shut down date and the arrival date. The system verifies this information based on the time zone specified in the “Time Zone” field.

Inflight Restart Time

The time at which the engine is re-started (Time Format). Mandatory. Ensure that the time entered in this field is in the format specified in the “Date & Time Format” field. Data entry in this field is mandatory, if the “Inflight Restart Date” field is entered.

Note: The time entered here should lie within the time duration of the inflight shut down date and time and the arrival date and time for the journey log.

Remarks

Any additional information, remarks or comments pertaining to the shut down and restart of the engine (Alphanumeric, 2000).

Note: Ensure that no two rows in the multiline contain the same shut down date and time and the restart date and time.

Ensure that the restart date and time are greater than the shut down date and time in the multiline.

The system calculates the shutdown hours as the difference between the Inflight Shutdown date and time and the Inflight Restart date and time. If you have not entered the “Inflight Restart Date” and “Inflight Restart Time”, the system considers the Arrival Date and Time of the journey log as the Restart Date and Time.

The system displays the following details in the “Computed Flight Parameters” group box:

Flying Hours

The difference between the take-off time and the landing time.

Flight Cycles

The number of times the flight takes off and lands, considering each take off and landing as one cycle.

Engine Hours

The number of hours the engine worked.

Note: The sum of all the shutdown hours in the multiline is deducted from the Flight Hours or Block Hours, based on the option specified in the “Basis to Update Engine Flight Hours” option in the “Set Options” activity. The resultant value is displayed in the “Engine Hours” field.

Engine Cycles

The number of times the engine shut down and restarted, considering each shut down to each restart as one cycle.

Reporting inflight shut down hours – An overview

Create Journey Log - A summary of the activity

An engine shut down may take place due to some problems in the engine,  after the commencement of journey. Such an event is called ‘In-flight shutdown’. In this page, you can enter the engine shut down and restart details.

You can select the engine by specifying the position code in which the engine has been fitted. The engine shut down date and time, the type of shut down, the engine restart date and time and general comments can be entered. These values are used in calculating the engine flight hours and engine cycles, for updating parameters.

The system updates the details and stores the name of the currently logged in user and the current server date.
