Modifying fault code details
This page allows you to modify the details of the selected fault code. Tell me more.
Select the hyperlinked fault code in the multiline of the “Select Fault Code” page.
The “Edit Fault Code” page appears.
The system displays the following:
Date Format |
The format in which the date fields are displayed, in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the "Enterprise Modeling" business component by default. |
The system displays the following in the “Fault Details” group box:
Fault # |
The fault code selected in the “Select Fault Code” page. |
Enter the following:
Fault Description |
Modify the textual description of the fault code (Alphanumeric, 80). Mandatory. The system displays the description of the selected fault code by default. |
The system displays the following:
Fault Code Type |
The type of the selected fault code. The system displays “OEM” or “Airline”. |
Status |
The status of the selected fault code as either “Active”, “Inactive” or “Fresh”. |
Enter the following:
Fault Particulars |
Modify any additional comments pertaining to the selected fault code (Alphanumeric, 2000). |
Fault Category |
Use the drop-down list box to modify the category of the selected fault code to “Cabin” or “Observed”. The system displays the category of the selected fault code by default. |
Base Aircraft Model # |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the aircraft model whose fault code has to be modified. The system lists all the aircraft model numbers defined in the “Aircraft” business component that are in the “Active” status. |
Model Description |
The textual description of the base aircraft model number (Alphanumeric, 150). |
The system lists the cause codes that are already associated to the fault code, in the multiline. You can modify these details or enter new cause codes for the fault code.
Enter the following in the “Cause Details” group box, to associate new cause codes to the selected fault code:

The code identifying the cause to be associated with the selected fault code (Alphanumeric, 25). Help facility available. |
Cause Description |
The textual description of the cause code (Alphanumeric, 80). Mandatory, if the “New / Existing” field is set to “New”. |
New / Existing |
Use the drop-down list box to specify whether the cause code is new or already defined in the system. The system sets the field to “Existing” by default. |
The system displays the following:
Status |
The status of the cause code as “Active” or “Inactive”. |
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the cause code for deletion.
Click the “Delete” icon in the above multiline, to delete the selected cause code.
Click the “Edit Fault Code” pushbutton, to save the modified information.
Note: The system updates the cause codes against the selected fault code. The status of new cause codes is set to “Active”.
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “Edit Model Effectivity” link to update the model effectivity details for the fault code.
Select the “Edit Fault Resolution Procedure ” link to update work units for the fault code.
The system displays the following in the “Record Statistics” group box:
Created by |
The name of the user who created the fault code. |
Created Date |
The date, in the specified date format, on which the fault code is created. |
Last Modified by |
The name of the user who last modified the fault code. |
Last Modified Date |
The date, in the specified date format, on which the fault was last modified. |
Approved By |
The name of the user who approved the fault code. |
Approved Date |
The date, in the specified date format, on which the fault code was approved. |
Modifying fault code – An overview
This page allows you to modify the details of the selected fault code. You can modify the description, particulars and category for the selected fault code. You can also modify and update cause codes associated with the selected fault code. You can add new or existing cause codes to the fault code and modify the description of the cause codes that are already associated.
The system updates the modified fault code and the associated cause codes in the multiline. In case of new cause codes, the system sets the status of the cause code to “Active”, stores the name of the login user and sets the current server date as the last modified date.

Modify the fault code category
You can modify the category of the fault code that was created in the “Create Fault Code” activity to either “Observed” or “Cabin”.
Set the “Fault Category” field to “Observed“ to change the fault code to “Observed” category.
Set the “Fault Category” field to “Cabin“ to change the fault code to “Cabin” category.
Specify the cause code as new or existing
You can specify whether the cause code associated with the fault code is new or already exists in the system.
Set the “New / Existing” field to “New“, if the cause code is created and associated to the fault code.
Set the “New / Existing” field to “Existing“, if the cause code already exists in the system and is associated to the fault code.
