Select options for exporting the visit package details into project management software
This page allows you to select the options to export the visit package to the project management software. Tell me more
Select the “Select Export options” in the “Plan Visit Package” page or from the “Review Visit Package Execution” page.
The “Select Export Option” page appears.
The system displays the following field:
Date Format |
The format in which the date fields are displayed in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default. |

This page allows you to select the details to be exported to the project management software. You can set the options as “Activity”, “Resource Pool”, “Calendar” or “Relationships”. The system exports the selected information, as found in the “Visit Package” business component, to the project management software installed in the system. You can later import the required details from the project management software, into your system.
Note: When the PMT is launched for the first time, it automatically creates the Project ID for the given set of information and updates all the project related details such as resource pool, calendar, activity list and relationships, along with the timestamp. For subsequent updates, you can set the option to export a particular group of details.
Transfer to Project Management Tool
A Project Management Tool (PMT) uses sophisticated algorithms and powerful graphical displays to analyze interdependencies between activities, build network and identify and resolve resource bottlenecks, if any. The Aviation solution interfaces with these project management software tools to plan, monitor and control the execution aspects of complex jobs effectively.
In this activity, you can export the visit package details. It plans the scheduled start date and end date automatically for the work units included in the visit package. You can also import the visit package contents from the project management software.
You can export the details into PMT for the following purposes:
For scheduling the visit package, prior to release.
For viewing the progress of the visit package.
Scheduling Tool
The use of the PMT as a complete scheduling tool will require bi-directional flow of information. It represents the most comprehensive form of interfacing, all entities that are required for planning and resource leveling are exported to the projects software, including the activities (and its key attributes), resource pool, calendar information and the relationships between the activities. The revised activity details and relationship details are updated back into the work application database.
For scheduling the visit package, prior to release
For exporting the data, the details required by a PMT are categorized as Activity, Resource, Resource Pool, Calendar and Relationships. The grouped information is exported to PMT.
Export Option: Activity
The visit package details are exported to the PMT in the following sequence:
Visit Package Number is exported as PMT Project Number.
Visit Package Start Date is exported as the Project Start Date.
Primary Work Center, Work Center Number, Work Unit Number and Task are exported as Task Name.
The standard procedures will be broken down into individual task constituents.
All the tasks belonging to the Visit Package are transferred to PMT. The information in the MSP (Microsoft Project) is sequenced based on the WBS (Work Break Down Structure) levels specified, that is, Primary Work Center forms the first level, Work center at the second level and the tasks to be performed in the work center are at the third level.
The Est.Elapsed Time is exported as Duration.
Along with the elapsed time, the time unit is also updated and it is concatenated as day, hour etc.
Priority of each task is exported.
If the priority description corresponds to numbers between 1 and 9 in the application, then the priority is set as follows:
1 - Highest
2 - Very high
3 - Higher
4 - High
5 - Medium
6 - Low
7 - Lower
8 - Very low
9 - Lowest.
If the priority number is greater than 9, then the system assigns the least priority.
Job Type, Component ID, Part Number and Serial Number are exported as Custom.
The following details are imported from the PMT:
The work unit number.
Note: The newly added work units and also those work units, which are in “Released”, “Deferred” and “Pending Deferral” status, will not be imported.
The planned start and end date
The start and end time
Export Option: Resource Pool:
The resource pool details are exported to the PMT in the following sequence:
The Resource Numbers are exported as Resource Names.
If the "Work Center Hierarchy Check" option is set as 'Yes' in the “Set Options” activity, then the exported resource must have been mapped either to the primary center or to its child work centers.
If the “Work Center Hierarchy Check" option is set as 'No' in the “Set Options” activity, then the resource must have been mapped to the work center of the login organizational unit.
The resource quantity is exported as ‘Max.Units Available’.
For the resources of type “Skills” defined in the “HR Setup” business component, the total number of resources mapped to the exported work center is passed as ’Available units’ for the primary skill specified.
For the resources other than “Skills”, the total quantity mapped to the exported work center is passed.
The Rate is exported as Standard Rate.
The rate information defined in “HR Setup” business component is passed for the resource.
If the details are not available from the “HR Set Up” business component, then the resource quantity, primary skill and rate are exported from the “Work Center” business component.
Export Option: Resource:
The resource details are exported to the PMT:
The Work Unit Number is exported as Task Name.
The Resource Number is exported as Resource Name.
The resource requirements at the visit package level are retrieved along with the resource requirements at the task level. The visit package level resource requirements have to be equally distributed among the tasks of the work order.
The Est.Time and Time Unit are exported as Duration.
Along with the elapsed time, the time unit is also updated and it is concatenated as day, hour etc.
The ‘Est.Nos’ is exported as ‘Assign Units’.
Assign units is calculated as follows:
(Reqd. Time of the Resource / Tot. Est. Time of the work unit) * No. of resources
Export Option: Calendar:
The following information is exported to the PMT:
The Work Center Calender is exported as Project Calendar.
If the integration between “Work Center” and “Time Management Scheduling” exists, the rota schedule mapped to the primary work center is exported as “Project Calendar” and it will span the duration of 3 weeks prior to the project start date and 3 weeks after the planned end date.
If the integration does not exist, the default calendar is considered by the PMT.
Export Option: Relationships:
The following details are exported to the PMT:
The Task Number is exported as Name.
The Predecessor Task Number is exported as Task Name.
The Relationship Type is exported as Type.
The Lag and Time Unit is exported as Lag.
The time unit is concatenated with the lag.
The following details are imported from the PMT:
The Task Number and Predecessor Task Number
The Relationship Type and Constraint
The Constraint Date and Time Unit
Lag
The lag is split into Value and Time Unit.
Graphical View
The PMT is utilized purely for its ability to render information in graphical form (through usage of Gantt charts, resource usage graphs etc.). An interface of this type requires only unidirectional information flow; however, the interface might still require all activity details and allied information (resource pool, calendars etc.), to be made available in the project management software.
Complex business functions such as reviewing the progress of the visit package that handles large volumes of data across a time line, will utilize this type of interface.
For viewing the progress of the visit package
To view the progress of the visit package, the grouped information is exported into PMT.
Export Option: Activity:
The visit package details are exported to the PMT in the following sequence:
Visit Package Number is exported as PMT Project Number.

The standard procedures will be broken down into individual task constituents.
All the tasks belonging to the Visit Package are transferred to the PMT. The information in the Microsoft Project (MSP) is sequenced based on the WBS (Work Break Down Structure) levels specified; That is, Primary Work Center forms the first level, Work center at the second level and the tasks at the third level.
