Building work center hierarchy
This page allows you to maintain work center hierarchy information. Tell me more.
Select “Build Work Center Hierarchy” link under the “Work Center” business component.
The “Build Work Center Hierarchy Information” page appears.
The system displays the following in the “Execution Org. Units Details” group box:

The organizational unit to which you have logged in. |

The textual description of the login organizational unit. |
The system displays the work center hierarchy details for the login organization unit. The details such as the “Organization Unit” of the login user, “Primary work Centers” defined under the login organization unit and the “Child Work Centers” associated to each primary work center are displayed in the form of a tree structure.
If you are defining the work center hierarchy for the first time, you need not enter the search criteria. Click the “Search” pushbutton directly to view all the work centers associated to the login organizational unit, in the multiline.
If you have already defined a hierarchy, enter the following fields in the “Search Criteria” group box to select the work center for which the hierarchy is to be viewed. Data entry in these fields is optional:
Parent Work Center # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the work center for which the hierarchy is to be displayed. The system lists all the parent work centers for which child work centers have already been defined. Leave the field blank if you wish to retrieve all the parent work centers that are associated to the login organizational unit. The system leaves the field blank by default. |
Note: If you are defining the work center hierarchy for the first time, the drop-down list box appears blank.
Work Center Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the work center to be retrieved. The work center could be of type “Hangar”, “Bay”, “Shop”, “Line” or “Others”. Leave this field blank, if you wish to retrieve work centers irrespective of the work center type. The system leaves this field blank by default. |
Display Level |
The number identifying the level at which the work center is associated in the hierarchy. The system lists all the child work centers belonging to the parent work center defined at this level. Leave the field blank if you are defining child work centers for the first time. The system leaves the field blank by default. |
Note: If you have selected a parent work center, ensure that it is defined at the same level as specified in this field.
Display Option |
Use the drop-down list box to select either of the options “All level” or “Next level”. Select “All level” to display the child work centers, at all levels, belonging to the parent work center. Select “Next level” to display child work centers that are in the next level in the hierarchy. The system displays “All level” by default. |
Note: If the “Parent Work Center #” and Display Level” fields are left blank, and the “Display Option” is set to “All level”, the system lists all the parent work centers and their child work centers at all levels. If the display option is set to “Next level”, the system lists all the work centers that are at level “0” in the hierarchy.
Click the “Search” pushbutton to display the search results.
If you are defining the work center hierarchy for the first time, the system displays all the work centers associated to the login organizational unit, in the multiline. If you have already defined the hierarchy, based on the filter criteria, the system displays the child work centers of the selected parent work center, in the multiline.
The system fills in the following fields in the “Search Results” multiline:

The number identifying the child or the parent work center. If you are defining the hierarchy for the first time, the system displays the work centers that are assigned the level ‘0’. |
Work Center Description |
The textual description of the work center. |
Level # |
The level to which the work center belongs in the hierarchy. |
Work Center Type |
The type of the work center which could be “Hangar”, “Bay”, "Shop", "Line" or “Others”. |
Enter the following field:
Parent Work Center # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the parent work center. The system lists all the work centers defined in the login organizational unit. |
Note: You can define work center hierarchy based on the pattern of work center type: Others-Hangar-Bay-Others. A Hangar work center can be a parent only for a Bay work center and a Bay work center can be a parent of work center of type “Others”. Work center of type “Shop” and “Line” are at same level in the hierarchy as “Hangar”.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the work center for deletion or to add child work centers.
Click the Delete icon in the tool bar above the multiline, to delete the work centers selected in the multiline.
Click the “Edit Hierarchy” pushbutton to update the hierarchy and click the “Refresh” pushbutton to refresh the contents of the page.
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “Add Child Work Centers” link at the bottom of the page to add child work centers to the selected parent work center.
Building work center hierarchy – An overview
This page allows you to select the work center for which child work centers have to be added or deleted. You can directly select the parent work center number if you know the exact number or you can carry out a search based on the level number and display option.
Note: A work center is assigned the level ‘0’, when it is associated to the login organizational unit.
The details of the child work centers belonging to the selected parent work center, are displayed in the multiline. The hierarchy details include the work center number, work center description, level number, work center type and parent work center number. You can select a work center in the hierarchy and add or delete its child work centers.
Note: If you are defining the work center hierarchy for the first time, you will be able to view all the work centers associated to the login organizational unit, in the multiline.
