Select the “Create UOM” link under the “Unit of Measurement Administration” business component.
The “Create UOM ” page appears.
Enter the following in the “UOM Information” multiline:
UOM Code |
A unique code identifying the UOM (Alphanumeric, 10). Mandatory. It can be a combination of alphabets and numbers. You can either enter the standard abbreviations used widely for the UOM, or enter your own derivatives. |
UOM Description |
The UOM description (Alphanumeric, 80). Mandatory. The expansion of the UOM abbreviation can be entered here. |
UOM Category |
Use the drop-down list box to select the category of the unit of measurement. The system lists all "active" values defined in the “Quick Code” for the quick code type "UOM Category".The system displays “Blank” by default. |
Fractions Allowed |
Use the drop-down list box and set the field to “Yes”, if the UOM can be used with fractions while recording transactions. |
Note: At least one row in the multiline must be entered.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline, to select the UOM code for deletion.
Click the Delete icon in the tool bar above the multiline, to delete the selected UOM code.
Click the “Create UOM(s)” pushbutton to save the details.
The status of the “UOM Code” is updated to “Active”.

Creating UOM Information – An overview
This page allows you to add a Unit of Measurement (UOM). You can enter its description. You can also decide whether the UOM can be used with fractions while recording transactions. The UOM code can be either the standard UOMs or user defined. Based on the requirement you can define your own UOMs.

You can allow or disallow fractions in UOM. When fractions are allowed for a particular UOM, it means that the UOM can take fractional values. Changing this option frequently might create discrepancy in the stock.
Set the option to “Yes” in the “Fractions Allowed” field to allow fractions for the UOM.
Set the option to “No” in the “Fractions Allowed” field to disallow fractions for the UOM
