Activating or inactivating asset location

This activity allows you to activate or inactivate a selected asset. Tell me more.

Asset Location Code

The code identifying the location in which the asset is located (Alphanumeric, 16). You can enter the code in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the location codes that are similar to the value entered here.

Location Description

A textual description of the location (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the description in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the location codes that have descriptions similar to the value entered here.

Asset Location Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the location. The location type must have been defined as quick codes in the “Create Quick Code” activity of the “Quick Code Definition” business component and must be in “Active” status. The system displays “All” by default.

Child Location

Check the box in case you want to retrieve the child location details of the location code entered.

Asset Location Status

Use the drop-down list box to select the status of the asset location from “Active” or “Inactive”.

 
  • Active – indicates that the location is in use.

 
  • Inactive – indicates that the location is not in use.

The system displays “Active” by default on launch of the page.

 The system displays the following in the “Asset Location Details” multiline based on the search criteria entered:

Asset Location Code

The code identifying the asset location.

Asset Location Description

A textual description of the asset location.

Short Description

A short description of the asset location.

Parent Location Code

The code identifying parent location.

Asset Location Type

The type of the asset location.

Asset Location Status

The status of the asset location. It could be “Active” or “Inactive”.

 
  •   Active – indicates that the location is in use.

 
  •   Inactive – indicates that the location is not in use.

Note: You cannot activate an asset location that has an inactive parent location.

The status of the location is updated to “Active”.

The login ID of the user and the system date is updated along with the modified details.

Note: You cannot inactivate a location that has active child locations or in which assets are present.

Activate / Inactivate Asset Location – A summary of the activity

You can carry out a search based on the code identifying the location, the description of the location, the type and the status of the location. The system retrieves the location details based on the search criteria entered.

You can inactivate a location that is no longer in use provided there are no active child locations for it. In case assets have been attached to the location, you cannot inactivate the location. You can activate an inactive location provided the parent location is active. The system stores the login ID of the user and the system date along with the modified details.
