Activating or inactivating an asset class
This page allows you to activate or inactivate an asset class. An asset class is inactivated if it is no longer in use. An asset class cannot be inactivated if assets have been mapped to the selected class. You cannot inactivate asset classes for which a depreciation category has been defined in the “Asset Depreciation Setup” business component. The system stores the login ID of the user and the system date along with the modified details.
Select the “Activate / Inactivate Asset Class” link under the “Asset Type Definition” business component.
The “Activate / Inactivate Asset Class” page appears.
Enter the following fields to search for the asset class that has to be activated or inactivated.
Asset Class Code |
The code identifying the asset class which you want to activate or inactivate (Alphanumeric, 20). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves the details of the asset classes that are similar to the value entered here. |
Asset Class Description |
A textual description of the asset class (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the description in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves the details of all the asset classes that have description similar to the value entered here. |
Asset Class Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the status of the asset class from “Active” or “Inactive” based on whether you want to activate or inactivate an asset class. The system displays “Active” by default. |
Depreciable |
Use the drop-down list box to indicate whether the asset is depreciable or not. |
Inventory Cycle |
Use the drop-down list box to select inventory cycle from “Yearly”, “Half-yearly”, “Quarterly”, “Monthly” and “Not required”. |
Asset Group Code |
A unique code identifying the asset group (Alphanumeric, 25). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. |
Click the “Get” pushbutton to retrieve the asset class details.
The system displays the following in the “Asset Class Details” multiline based on the search criteria entered:
Asset Class Code |
The code identifying the asset class. |
Asset Class Description |
A textual description of the asset class. |
Depreciable |
Indicates whether the asset is depreciable or not. |
Inventoriable Asset Class Status |
The status of the asset class which could be “Active” or “Inactive”. |
Asset Group Code |
The code identifying the asset group. |
Note: At least one row in the multiline must be marked for activation or inactivation.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the asset class code that has to be activated or inactivated.
Click the “Activate Class” pushbutton to activate the selected “Inactive” asset.
The status of the asset is updated to “Active”.
The system stores the login ID of the user and the system date along with the modified details.
Note: You cannot inactivate an asset class to which assets have been mapped and for which a depreciation category has been defined.
Click the “Inactivate Class” pushbutton to inactivate the selected “Active” asset.
The status of the asset is updated to “Inactive”.
The system stores the login ID of the user and the system date along with the modified details.
